REVIEW:
It took me until I was older to like this show when I was growing up. Aliens are creepy...so it took me a while to like it. So now they have this movie and I was excited.

The story follows Zim and Dib who are archenemies. Zim thought he was sent to Earth for his leaders to take it over, buuuuuuuuut he finds out the truth and now he isn't sure what to do.

Oooo Zim. Oooo Dib. Forgot how much they make me laugh. I love Zim's side-kick GIR. Always fun.

As per normal the art style creeps me out. I think that and the alien thing was my main issue when I was a wee one. It is a cool art style, but it is creepy sometimes. Especially the teeth on people. Ew.

It took a while for the story to really heat up. I felt like we were being reintroduced to everyone. A touch boring for a second, but then things exploded. Luckily the humor saved the beginning from being completely boring and unwatchable. Lots a of laughs but the story-line took a minute to bubble. Sort of like when you are boiling water....seems to take forever but when it takes off BOOM it is bubbling over.

I think what I liked best about this was the fact you could watch this and never had seen the show. Some references but nothing that ruins your enjoyment. My friend's kid had never seen the show until after watching this movie and she adored it.

OoooOOOoooo that ending left me wanting more, but in a good way. It inspired me to want to watch some old episodes.

Overall I am super glad that Netflix did this. It was nice to get some conclusions...some more story...and some time with the characters. It did the show justice. The beginning was slooow but once the ball started rolling I was hooked. I'll give this 4 stars.

Book Review: Redemption of the Heart by Moni Boyce

Redemption of the Heart
Author: Moni Boyce
Title: Redemption of the Heart
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Pages: ebook
Published: January 8th 2019
Where I Got It: My shelf (Netgalley)

After surviving an abusive relationship that landed her in prison, Gemma Peyton, just wants a fresh start once she is released. Her focus is to create a new life for herself and put men and relationships on the back burner so she can rebuild.

Alex Chambers hasn’t felt anything for another woman since his wife died a few years ago. His life is his restaurant until the moment he meets his new waitress. Something stirs within him that’s been dormant for a long time.

Despite the baggage each of them is carrying, neither of them can fight the attraction they feel for one another, even though they try to resist. As they fall harder and deeper in love a shocking incident from their past that they unknowingly share, threatens to tear their newfound love apart.

Once the truth is revealed, will their relationship be able to survive? Or will the revelation shatter the love that’s grown between them?

I was instantly drawn in by the premise of the story and the cover is lovely.

The story follows Gemma and Alex. Gemma finds herself causing a horrible accident while trying to run from her abusive husband. This lands her in jail. She gets out and just wants a new life. Alex lost his wife and he meets Gemma. They both have tragedy and secrets. Can they find love?

I was intrigued to see how this romance would work and how they could forgive themselves and each other. I had a lot of doubts and worries.

Poor Gemma. I felt so bad for her. She had a terrible childhood and married herself to a terrible man. I felt for Alex too. I wanted them to be happy.

Spoiler but not really a spoiler...but I'll cover it up just to be safe.

*SPOILER*Gemma caused an accident that killed Alex's wife. Alex never went to the court case so he didn't know it was her years later. They find out, as they would, and they have to figure out if it'll work. *END OF SPOILER* Just so unrealistic. I don't think the guilt and the anger will ever fully go away. I don't think so. So many doubts. I want them to be happy but not with each other. Is that bad of me to say?

This was super unrealistic and it took me a while to dive back in after a certain part, but I was invested in the characters so I had to finish this. Had to know how this was going to end. The ending was not bad. It made me smile...but again so unrealistic.

Overall, I was mainly invested the characters. The story was unrealistic but it is interesting to see these characters find love even after the reveals. I would recommend it if you need something new. I'll give this 3 stars.

B's Monday Review: Captain Marvel (2019)

Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Directors: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck
Writers: Anna Boden (screenplay by), Ryan Fleck (screenplay by) |
Stars: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn

Well this was boring. Why was everyone raving about this one? Truly one of the more dreadful Avengers movies. Boring, boring, messy, nothing special about the character. What was even the point of her? Acting meh.

Best thing was the cat, the cat was awesome! And Samuel L Jackson and the cat together was pure gold.

Recommend? No way
Watch again? Ha no.
Watch more? Hopefully not!

Joint Review: Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop

Hello all! Blodeuedd and I will be discussing "Murder of Crows" by Anne Bishop. Blodeuedd is in red and I am in black.

Murder of Crows (The Others, #2)Author: Anne Bishop
Narrator: Alexandra Harris
Title: Murder of Crows
(The Others #2)
Genre: Paranormal, UF, Fantasy, & romance
Published: March 4th 2014
Pages: Audiobook

After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murder of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard - Lakeside’s shape-shifting leader - wonders if their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now, the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet - and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

SO so so!! Did it get better? :D

Yesss, it did. Much, much better! Not sure if it was the story, the audio aspect, or both. But I enjoyed it much more. Still some issues especially with having some more questions about this world. BUT I got a lot answered in this one.

Let’s say audio. I mean yes I know the world now, but when I looked back at my old review I had issues, while now I seem to like the characters more. Alexandra Harris is just that good.

I adore that narrator! She has voices for everyone and she sticks to it. I never get confused. There are a LOT of characters running around and she made it easy to follow.

Yes, I never have to wonder who is speaking, I love her voices for everyone. She is fantastic! I am a total Harris fangirl.

I want more by the narrator! And the author is getting better and I’m warming up to the author! LOL

I have only listened to her with these books, but yes I want more too! And good that Bishop is growing on you ;D SO I guess I should ask about issues that you still have

The ending made me mad. I also am not a huge fan of Simon...but I’m warming up to him. Meg still annoys me. Again...I warmed up a tiny, tiny bit to her. And this world confuses me. Just kill the humans and call it good. Little rats.

I have grown to like Meg now. I feel like I get her now and then she does not annoy me anymore. I am also in love with Simon *cough cough* I freaking love him, there I said it.
And yes, DEATH to most humans. DEATH! Let them be eaten those mofos.

There is something so grating about Meg. She is still adjusting...I know...so I don’t hate her. Just annoyed. And Simon is getting under my wall. LOL He was very sweet in this. I like that Henry guy and the vamp. They are fun. UGGHHH HATE THE HUMANS! Just get rid of them and be done with it.

Simon!!!! And I love Vlad and Henry too. Tess is awesome, let her take everyone down. So many great characters that you just have to care about.

Yesss, there are a couple that I do have my worries about. I feel like someone is going to betray someone. Just a feeling I’m having. LOL

Can you spoil it? I want to know *wiggles eyebrows*

Sorry..you shoulda been here when I did my psychic reading ;) hehehehe.

Oh you are EVIL! Lol. But I am glad that the series won you over. Aren’t you curious to see if the world will burn and humans will be burnt meat`?

I am cheering for the humans to be taken down. Sure there are a few good ones...but they are so dumb. SOOOOO dumb. C’mon. There are more of these supernatural creatures and they rule the roost. Just be thankful they are not eating you.

I do like that she made it like that, cos humans are fucking stupid. SO effing stupid. We get slapped in the face with the truth time after time and still when something happens we are so what happened?!?! HOW!?!?

WHY ARE YOU KILLING US!? Well...idiots...you killed innocents sooooo. *shrugs* SMH. Those poor dumb crow shifters. I would hate to be a crow shifter. I would wanna be a wolf or bear or tiger.

Hey, do not call them dumb! I love Jenny :/ They can’t help that they love the shiny. And I would be an elemental. All the way

LOLL i say dumb with affection ;) But I wanted to smack ‘em! Like you are being targeted bros! RESIST TEMPTATION OF THE TRASH! RESIST!

Shinies!!!!!

BAD SHINIES! BAD! *shakes fist* And being an elemental would be cool. But I want to be something fuzzy.

I am sure you would make a great, hmm, what are you, sorry Carole, not a wolf, not a bear, maybe a cat of a sort? What do you guys have there? Pumas, cougars,...tricky. Lol, what are you

If we’re going based on the location I would be a bobcat...short and stubby. BAHAHAHA

Awww you look adorable, and fierce.

Little and fierce. Sounds like me. Haha

I do not know if I have the actual temper of an elemental, I am sure to be an animal too.

Mhmmmm. If not an elemental….what furry thing would you be? Maybe a lynx?

I’d love to be a cat, but you know what, I am a wolverine, elusive, but fierce. No one minds me and then boom. Though lynxes are So much cuter. Scratch that I wanna be a fox

We would be great. Grr Humans! Ok so we got so out of track. Anything more to add?

I say they should have said f all humans and done more. They are being too nice, and nice gets you killed.

Yep. Especially with dealing with idiots like humans.

On to the next on then! YAY

Onward! :D

Book Review: The Final Conflict by Gordan McGill

The Final Conflict: Omen III (The Omen #3)
Author: Gordon McGill
Title: The Final Conflict: Omen III
(The Omen #3)
Genre: Horror, Fiction
Pages: 196
Published: March 17th 1980
Where I Got It: My shelf (Gift)

Around the globe, drought, famine and flood are striking down helpless millions. And everywhere there is trouble. Damien Thorn's followers can be found--almost before disaster strikes -- ready to offer aid to the pitiful survivors. Damien, the handsome, thirty-two year old head of one of the world's most powerful corporations... and certain to be president of the United States by the time he is forty. Damien, believed to be the son of Satan, who is relentlessly reaching out to claim the Earth for the forces of darkness... Now is the time of prophecy, the beginnings of the end for mankind. But where is the promised Messiah, to save the world from ultimate evil?

My lord it has been forever and a day since I watched the movies. I remember reading book 1 eons ago. Can barely remember that. But I couldn't resist diving into this when my friend gave this to me.

The world is plagued from drought, famine, and floods. All because of Damien Thorn and his followers. Damien is the son of Satan and is ready to destroy the world and the promised Messiah. Who can stop this terror? Who would believe this good looking man full of charm and a zest for life is truly evil?

Oooo Damien you evil bastard. People are so blinded by his good looks and charms. He is quickly making his way up in power and plans to run the US in a few years, but first, he has to take care of that Messiah. So little hope.

I barely remember the movie but this did remind me of a lot of things. And from I remember it does pretty okay following the movie. I did like how there were a few photos there from the movie. Makes me want to backtrack and read/watch the others.

That girl was an idiot. Wanted to smack her.

I don't think the priest did enough. Could've saved more lives, but no. *grumbles*

This wasn't scary, but more so creepy. Damien is a creepy guy, but I was intrigued by him as a character. He is for sure evil and knows it. I found his interactions interesting especially when that lady was tossing herself at him. He was all "I can't love...and even if I could I won't." hahaha. He was humorous in some points.

I think my only issue was the slow narrative. Omg. Let's move it along now. It took 50 or so pages for things to get good. And it's a short book for goodness sakes.

Overall, if you like the films I would suggest reading this. I am curious about the first 2 books and how closely they follow the movie. I also want to rewatch them. Maybe for Halloween ;) I'll give this 4 stars.  Slow narrative, but still a good read.

Tell Me Something Tuesday: Cutting Back that TBR Pile

TMSToption2Blue

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

Have you found a way to cut back significantly on your TBR pile?

Oooo the dreaded TBR pile. So many books....so little time.

I still have a LOT on my TBR pile, but I have been able to keep it lower than in the past. How? A couple of good reasons:

- If something has sat for sooooo long and I don't own the book, I remove it from the pile.
- Make a point and case to read at least 1 book a month that has been collecting dust on the pile
- DNFing some of those eh books I've tried more than once
- Not adding more. Simple enough, but when I only have a slight interest...don't add it.

These are just some tips that have helped me.

B's Monday Review: Marry in Secret by Anne Gracie

Narrated by: Alison Larkin
Series: Marriage of Convenience Series, Book 3
Length: 11 hrs and 8 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 07-30-19
Language: English
Publisher: Tantor Audio
Historical romance
I received this in exchange for an honest review

Honestly I felt this one got worse and worse and I do not know why I did not dnf.

Rose is about to marry a Duke, but then he long lost hubbie shows up. The one she never told anyone about, the one she married at 16.

First the drama is about her family not wanting him around.

Then when there is happiness, the drama changes to this other thing. That just felt weird.

I honestly lost interest and it felt like a chore. I know I know, DNF! But I need to dnf audio in the first hour, when I am half way through I push on which I know realise is a mistake.

Very disappointed

Lady Rose Rutherford - rebel, heiress, and exasperated target of the town's hungry bachelors - has a plan to gain the freedom she so desperately desires: She will enter into a marriage of convenience with the biggest prize on the London marriage mart.

There's just one problem: the fierce-looking man who crashes her wedding to the Duke of Everingham - Thomas Beresford, the young naval officer she fell in love with and secretly married when she was still a schoolgirl. Thought to have died four years ago he's returned, a cold, hard stranger with one driving purpose - revenge.

Embittered by betrayal and hungry for vengeance, Thomas will stop at nothing to reclaim his rightful place, even if that means using Rose - and her fortune - to do it. But Rose never did follow the rules, and as she takes matters into her own unpredictable hands, Thomas finds himself in an unexpected and infuriating predicament: He's falling in love with his wife....
