Summary: Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that's exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater bears, brings with him.

Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence--her mind clear of all emotion--Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That's what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious...and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan.

Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed...

Review:

Been meaning to read more by this author and this magically popped up as a suggested audiobook. SOOOO yes.

The story follows Silver who is ruled by Silence - her mind and life clear of all emotion - in order to save her from being overcome by all voices. Valentin is the alpha of his bear pack and cannot get Silver out of his mind. When an assassin tries killing Silver, Valentin gets his chance to get to know Silver better when she stays in his bear clan for protection.

I really enjoyed this. This is not your typical romance. Silver cannot feel emotions and Valentin is FULL of emotion being a bear shifter. I was worried I was going to bored, but I ended up enjoying watching Silver slowly gain emotion and Valentin working himself to death to get her to be his mate. Loved it.

I do want to know more about this world and the people in it. I need to read more of the Psy-Changeling series. This is technically #16 of that series. I need to track down book 1 for my own curiosity. Don't get me wrong, this did an excellent job catching the reader up since this is book 1 of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series. But I do feel there is a lot of history and characters I am missing out on. Especially some of the side characters. I wonder if they are there? We shall see.

I am excited about book 2!

The narrator was fun. Her Russian accents made me giggle a little bit since it was so stereotypical, but it worked and did the job and everyone had their own voices.

Overall, I really enjoyed this. I loved Silver and Valentin. The narrator did a good job overall. I'll give this 4 stars.

Yes, track down the previous books. I love some more than others, but it's a good series and worth it. Bear shifters are the bomb!

*blinks* You STARTED with this one??? My heart can't take it. To be fair this is the first book in the "spin off series," so maybe she wrote it with new readers in mind. But the early Psy-Changeling books are some of my favorites!
