Richard III Has Been Found

When I got home from work my mother informed me that they found the missing body of Richard III of England. Being a history nerd I had to know more! How amazing that they solved one of the mysteries of History!? Through DNA testing it is affirmed that it is him. At first I had my doubts...but when they checked out the skeleton and the deformed spine convinced me that it was him. Also the wounds on the back of his head convinced me also. Here's a couple links to articles I've read:

Do you see the spine?

Now since they found the body, debates will explode. What do you think of Richard III? Was he a cold-blooded King or has the victor distorted this man's reputation? Personally? I'm not really sure...I believe he was just like anyone else...wanting power and the throne and the crown. Power meant EVERYTHING back then. I think he was a victim of his own greed and since he lost the throne to Henry Tudor, history will forever mark him as the "baddie".

Randomness Makes the World Go Around (2)

As many may know...I love randomness. It's part of my nature. ^.^ So of course I'm going to want to share some of my random thought patterns and etc. Enjoy.

For the next Renaissance Festival I want to go as Anne Boleyn or whatever. I think that would be freakin' awesome! I've been surfing the web looking for dresses and her famous necklace. I know what dress I would love, but I don't think they'll ever make it. Boo! I girl can dream, eh? So...if this was a perfect world, this would be my dream outfit (I have a couple dream dresses, which one do you like best?):

Dress 1

Dress 2

The Necklace

Alright, don't laugh, but this is the first anime I've drawn in a LONG time. This was free-hand during my algebra class. I'm a bad kid, but bleh, algebra is so boring. hahaha. I'm not sure who she is, but I named her Lady of the Butterflies. I wonder why.

 (full picture)

 (the butterflies I quickly drew)

(a close up on her face)

(close up on the bottom of her dress and my initials)

And now, I'll share you some of the things that happened today in history (December 16th):

~The Boston Tea Party, 1773
~OPEC states raise oil prices, 1979
~American Civil War: Johnston named commander of Army of Tennesee, 1863

Today is History + The End of the World Averted (Again) + Liebster Award

Happy Saturday everyone! It seems like its going to be a nice day and I have to work at 2pm. Booo. Oh well, better than being a zombie on the midnight shift. Anyways....I just wanted to post today because the world has avoided another predication of the End of the World.  *sighs* Why bother announcing the date that the world will end because in the end you will always end up either the bad guy or the idiot. Why do I say that? If you are right everyone dies and you are the bad guy that jinked us. If you are wrong you are going to look like an idiot/fool. No more predications! I beg of you (and you know who I'm taking to)!

ANYWAYS, I just wanted to thank Lieder Madchen for awarding me the Liebster Blog Award. *sniff sniff* I'm so honored to win an award. I never win any awards. I'll soon have my list of winners in the next few days. It'll be hard to only pick 5 *chews lip*.

If you're wondering what this award is all about, I'll tell you....it awards good blogs that only have 200 or less followers. It gives these baby blogs some sunlight and love. Just like a baby tree in the forest (mind me, I just woke up). Well, once you will this from a fellow blogger, you do the honors and award 5 other blogs you think deserve this award.

ANYWAYS, now I'll share some events that happened on today's date, because since the world survived again, it's time to appreciate a little world history:

~Peyton Randolph dies, 1775, American Revolution

~President Kennedy announces blockade of Cuba during Missile Crisis, 1962, Cold War

~My favorite gangster, Pretty Boy Flloyd, is killed by the FBI in 1934 *sniff sniff*

~A coal mine in New Mexico explodes, 1913

~The first parachutist uses the parachut, 1797

~Today is Jeff Goldblum's birthday! He was born in 1952

~Franz Liszt is born in 1811 (he's a pianist and composer)

~American forces suffer first casualties in the Vietnam War, 1957

~President Thieu turns down peace proposal, 1972

~Germans capture Langemarck during the First Battle of Ypres during WWI in 1914

~Allies in WWII confer secretly about Operation Torch, 1942

Well, I hoped you liked today's little history reminder. Have a great weekend you guys!

Today In History

On this day, September 23, in 1875 Billy the Kid was arrested for the first time! Here's an article about Billy the Kid from History.com:

"On this day in 1875, Billy the Kid is arrested for the first time after stealing a basket of laundry. He later broke out of jail and roamed the American West, eventually earning a reputation as an outlaw and murderer and a rap sheet that allegedly included 21 murders.
The exact details of Billy the Kid's birth are unknown, other than his name, William Henry McCarty. He was probably born sometime between 1859 and 1861, in Indiana or New York. As a child, he had no relationship with his father and moved around with his family, living in Indiana, KansasColorado and Silver City, New Mexico. His mother died in 1874 and Billy the Kid—who went by a variety of names throughout his life, including Kid Antrim and William Bonney—turned to crime soon afterward.
McCarty did a stint as a horse thief in Arizona before returning to New Mexico, where he hooked up with a gang of gunslingers and cattle rustlers involved in the notorious Lincoln County War between rival rancher and merchant factions in Lincoln County in 1878. Afterward, Billy the Kid, who had a slender build, prominent crooked front teeth and a love of singing, went on the lam and continued his outlaw's life, stealing cattle and horses, gambling and killing people. His crimes earned him a bounty on his head and he was eventually captured and indicted for killing a sheriff during the Lincoln County War. Billy the Kid was sentenced to hang for his crime; however, a short time later, he managed another jail break, murdering two deputies in the process. Billy the Kid's freedom was brief, as Sheriff Pat Garrett caught up with the desperado at Fort Sumner, New Mexico, on July 14, 1881, and fatally shot him.
Although his life was short, Billy the Kid's legend grew following his death. Today he is a famous symbol of the Old West, along with such men as Kit Carson, Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok, Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp, and his story has been mythologized and romanticized in numerous films, books, TV shows and songs. Each year, tourists visit the town of Fort Sumner, located about 160 miles southeast of Albuquerque, to see the Billy the Kid Museum and gravesite."
Other memorable events:
-John Paul Jones wins in English waters, 1779, American Revolution
-Hurricane Jeanne hits Haiti, 2004
-Lewis and Clark return from their adventures, 1806
-Eighth planet is discovered, 1846
-Controversial call gives the Chicago Cubs the pennant, 1908
-South Vietnam executed three VC agents,  1965
-German pilot Werner Voss was shot down over Western Front, 1917 (WWI)
-Mussolini re-establishes a fascist regime in northern Italy, 1943 (WWII)

I hope you enjoyed this random post about 'Today in History'. Just picking a random day to search from past events will surprise you! I didn't know all these events had happened on September 23. ^.^ I promise to post more of these in the future.

Here's a video by the always funny Wong Fu Production teams called 'Hot Lava'. You can check out their cute website store, Wong Fu Store.

Here's an anime version of me, Sarah, and Anee that a friend made for me. I think I would be a cute anime character! Don't you think so? =) I use to be able to draw anime when I was a youngster. Maybe I should get back into anime. Maybe someday I'll make my own anime series along with my future novel I want to write. So many dreams....so little time. What dreams do you have?

Me with my orange headphones that I always seem to have on. Just add freckles and it's complete. ^.^

Anee being all sassy.

Well, she's a brunettes now, because I dyed her hair. It's like dark brown with blonde bangs. It's pretty awesome.

Here's a picture of me and her with her new hair:

QUESTION TIME!!
~I'm planning on getting a new haircut soon, but I can't decide what I want...any ideas?
~What dreams would you kill to live out?
~Any good book series I should check (any genre)?
~Should my blog have it's own Twitter and/or Facebook account?
~How's your summer so far?
~If you could live anywhere in the world (or outerspace) where would you live?
~What's your favorite song of the moment?
~Was this post random?

Ahh, I got all that randomness off my chest. I hope you enjoyed today's random post! Tune in next time when I have a random attack. :3
