Time for TV Tuesday: The Great (Season 1)

Recently Finished:

Through: Hulu

"A royal woman living in rural Russia during the 18th century is forced to choose between her own personal happiness and the future of Russia, when she marries an Emperor." - IMDb

The summary really does nothing to describe this show. We follow the story of Catherine the Great in her early years and when she first arrives to Russia to marry Peter. She is young and naïve but she realizes that Peter is useless as an Emperor soooooo she should take the crown herself and lead this nation.

This had humor and had drama. And as they proclaim this is occasionally true and accurate. They don't try to hide that they had some fun with the story and characters sometimes. Which worked for the story.

Oooooooooo this was funny and sad all at the same time.

I had a hard time hating Peter all the time. He's just a dumb, spoiled dude. The actor is adorable too so it makes it hard fully hating him all the time. But then there were times I wanted to stab him myself and be done with it. Loved the actor for this role.

Poor Catherine. I was a little worried about who they casted to play her, but it worked well and she did excellent.

I just loved the overall cast. It was fun.

BF even started watching with me when he realized how fun this was.

Yes, be prepared for some historical inaccuracies, but it was overall enjoyable and I want to rewatch it. I hope they do a season 2 soon. This ended a little open-ended. If you don't know the real history you wouldn't know. And I was a sobbing mess!!! SOBS! SEASON 2 PLEASE!!!

5 stars of course ;)

Time for TV Tuesday: The Bold Type (Season 4)

The Bold Type Poster

"The show is a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for a global women's magazine. Their struggles are about finding your identity, managing friendships and getting your heartbroken, all while wearing the perfect jeans to flatter any body type.." - IMDb

I was excited that they were able to finish filming season 4 before the world went nuts and covid stopped production of a lot of shows. Huzzah! I've been itching for season 4.

We start pretty much where we left off in the last season. Some heartbreak and some major life changes for our girls.

Good for you Jane. Even though I am sad about _____, I am glad you got the confidence to say enough is enough and take life by the horns. Kuddos girl.

Oh Kat....even though I applaud you...how can you be surprised that happened? And I am on your parents' side.

Sutton...I love you! I was so happy for you! And now I'm mad.

But things go south for pretty much everyone here. Sure we get to see some happy things, but this was a sad season especially for Sutton. She has a lot of growing up to do. Same with Kat. Jane has a lot of body issues this time around WHICH what can you do? It was bound to happen.

I AM NOT HAPPY WITH ENDING! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! YOU CANNOT DO THAT! FIX IT WRITERS FIX IT!

I will NOT say, but I am beyond livid. The last 2 episodes made my cry and now I am worried. *fingers crossed* Hopefully things get better in season 5.

Overall....I am worried about this show. Season 4 ended horribly for me. It started SO good. Yes, drama. Yes, sadness. But what???? Sighs it better get better in the next season or I may have to say I'm done. Which will break my heart. I'll give this 2 stars. Sorry - the last 2 episodes really made me mad. The season started SO strong and ended so bad. Sighs.

A Parks and Recreation Special Poster

"The story comes from the events of the day-Pawnee's most dedicated civil servant, Leslie Knope, is determined to stay connected to her friends in a time of social distancing." - IMDb

I have loved this show for a long time, so when I heard they were doing one episode to help raise money for a charity during these Quarantine-times, I couldn't resist giving this a watch. At first, I wasn't going to review it...it's one episode! Did I want to mark this in the movie category? Nooo too short. Sighs. I decided to treat this as it's own "season" if you will.

Okay - so the story follows our beloved characters who are determined to stay connected with her friends in the modern problem of social distancing. If you know Leslie...it is probably literally killing her being forced to stay at home. She loves her friends and family SO much.

It was lovely to see our characters again. We got to see glimpses of all our favorites. It was nice since a lot of them especially those who only appeared a couple of times in the final season. There were a couple of characters I was bummed we didn't see. Boo!

I enjoyed this. It was cute and it did its job. However.................and I am going to sound crappy.....................the writing seemed thrown together last second and the actors seemed like they did one take. It felt super cheesy...awkwardly cheesy. Yes, I had laughs and I enjoyed seeing them again. But...sighs...it felt thrown together. In their defense, they probably had only X amount of time to write something up, get everyone together, and film via social distancing. THAT SOUNDS HARD AF! So I will give some wiggle room there in my final rating.

I do wish maybe this was longer or more episodes...maybe it would've helped with the writing?

OooOOOooo that ending was good. I cheered and even got a little tear in my eye!!!

Lil Sebastian GIFs | Tenor

Overall, though. I did have a fun time with this. It was nice to see everyone again. A few laughs and it was a nice reminder that we are not alone during this social distancing. If you liked the original show, I think you'd like this. I'll give this 3 stars.

Love, love this show! I feel like it gets better and better every season. More character developments, changing dynamics, growing up, more awesome outfits, fighting stupid social issues, and being just a little silly and crazy.

Sutton is my favorite by a longshot. She reminds me of me in a lot of ways. Maybe a more confident, New York version though.

I go back and forth with Jane. I love her in the end, but she does a lot of things that annoy me. Like grow up lady. HOWEVER, I stood up and applauded when she fought back and put her foot down. I'm sad because I adored that character, but even the ones you love can F you over and you have to make sure THEY know it is NOT okay to do that and lie. Good for you Jane. I hope in season 5 things can be fixed. Or maybe season 6.

Kat is always fighting. I get it. She can't stand idle and I am in awe of her. I don't get her weakness for a certain character though....THAT LADY IS NOT GOOD TO YOU!!!! GAH! But you can't help who you love.

The ending was very sad and very happy all in one. I rewatched the final episode twice already. SIGHS. I cannot wait for the next season to start. Luckily they finished filming RIGHT before all this covid stuff happened so we'll get another season. Yayy for the small joys in life.

Best season yet. I shall give this a 5.

"A rivalry between big cat eccentrics takes a dark turn when Joe Exotic, a controversial animal park boss, is caught in a murder-for-hire plot." - IMDb

Okayyyyy I gave in. I finally decided to watch this since my FB is nonstop about this show.

AND I am glad I watched it. This is a hot mess of people and I was hooked from episode one. I had to know how everything went to Hell in a hand-basket. Like all things...it started with good intentions, but ends with power struggles, money, betrayals, murder, revenge, and forgetting about what truly mattered. THE ANIMALS.

Those poor tigers and bears and etc. They are the true victims. These "zoos" need to be closed down. Let the animals go to real zoos and sanctuaries. Maybe some can go to the wild if they are wild enough.

These people are insane. Carole is a hubbie-murdering monster. Joe is crazy and an idiot. Doc is a sex cult leader. Jeff is a con man. The crews are insane to want to work with these people.

What more to say?

You just have to watch it. It's a hot mess of people and a situation that spiraled out of control. This show really does show that humans suck. I will note - the first couple of episodes are slooooowwww. It takes a min for things to heat up.

I'll give this......mmmmmmmmmm.......ummmmmm.....*does math* 4 stars. Mainly because the ending of the last episode does refocus us to the true victims of this whole situation....the animals. Send ALL those people to jail.

Time for TV Tuesday: Archer (seasons 8-10)

Recently Finished:
Archer Poster
Through: Hulu

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. I've been an active follower since 2010-ish. I've watched seasons 1-7 a million times.

Now - I finally have watched all the last couple of seasons just in time for season 11 (which is rumored to be the final season...who knows they said that about season 10 too). I was delaying watching season 10, because I wasn't a huge fan of season 8 and 9.

Spoiler, no spoiler, Archer is in a coma and we are watching his mind create some fun scenarios.

Season 8 is dreamland. The gang is back in time and Archer is a detective looking for the one who murdered his partner. Which was okay. I loved the shake-up of the roles of everyone. Some are baddies. Some are goodies. Some have switched genders like Pam.

Season 9 is Danger Island. They are on an island claimed by the French and are on the look of a special artifact. Again, a shake-up of the characters and their roles. No gender flip-flopping, but one of our characters is a talking parrot. Love it. I liked this one a little more than season 8.

Season 10 is 1999. They are space adventurers. The roles have gone back to normal, except Pam is an alien and Kreger is a robot man. I LOVED this season more than the past ones which is funny because it is space-y and more fantasy than the other two. The other two are more historical. Very funny this is my favorite of the seasons that took a side adventure from our normal timeline.

Overall, season 8 and 9. Just okay. Season 10 was fantastic! I actually want to rewatch it now! I cannot wait for season 11. We should be getting back to our normal timeline. I'll give these 3 seasons, a 3.

The Orville Poster

I've never really been one about space stuff. I'll watch it...but I'm not crazy about this genre. However, I was convinced to watch this. I do adore Seth Seth MacFarlane so it didn't take too much convincing to give the show a try.

The show takes place 400 years in the future. Captain Mercer and his crew travel the galaxy to explore and help where they are needed.

What I love about this show is that it is not a complete spoof. Sure they poke fun and make a few jokes, but this is a serious show. Serious topics and serious character development. It was the perfect blend of seriousness and comedy. Some jokes fall a little flat and can be dry. BUT I do love dry humor so I enjoy it and the awkward flat jokes make me laugh even harder.

Honestly, the first couple of episodes are just okay. However, every week the show gets better and better and better. I can't wait for season 3.

Where is everything going to lead? I am worried Ed and Kelly will get back together. I love both characters BUT not together. You got a divorce for a million reasons (the cheating number 1), and it just won't work. I just want them to be friends, but I do see some hints they will end up getting back together. SIGHS. We shall see.

In the end, this a really good show. I can't wait for season 3. I shall stamp this with 4 stars.

The Mandalorian Poster

Okay...I will admit it...I am not crazy about the 'Star Wars' movies and universe. I've watched them and I appreciate them for what they are. Some movies have been fun and exciting. Some? Meh. I didn't anticipate watching this...but...I randomly just put it on and I was hooked.

So - this does not follow the increasingly annoying Skywalkers (too many movies...let them be at peace and move on to other places in the university and other characters). We have a legit Mandalorian who has become a bounty hunter. He is tasked with bringing in a valuable bounty. Things happen and he becomes attached to the little one. He becomes his father-like figure.

I love, love Mando. He is badass, but humble and smart. He knows when to go blasting in and when he needs to be more careful. I would want him on my side. Plus...I am with him with being anti-droid/robot. I wouldn't trust them either especially after when we learn what happened to his family and village. Poor guy.

Loved the baby. Soooo cute. Hopefully we will get more of a glimpse into the history of this creature's species. It has been such a mystery.

We had a lot of characters that we met along the way. Some good. Some bad. Some a little of both. Some even surprise you! I loved going around to different parts of the universe. It was very fun! It really made me like this universe more. My favorite character was Kuiil and his little friends. I HAVE SPOKEN!!!!

The naming of each episodes were a nice touch. We got to see Mando grow into the Father role and protector. We see the creature get a little stronger with the Force. Bless that little creature!

OoooOOOooooOOOooo those last two episodes. My heart! SOBS! Will not say...but just rip my heart out YOU MONSTERS!!!!!!! SOBBBSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I am not amused how it ended at all. Nope. Nope. I still love the show, but I wasn't happy. It broke my heart. I will watch season 2 when it comes out...but I will need them to redeem themselves.

Overall, the show was really good. It made me want to watch more. I hope they follow this path and we go more like this. Boo to the Skywalkers...YAYY to Mandalorian and the baby! 4 stars (sorry - had to take one star away for what they did to my heart).

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Poster

OoooOOOOOoooo this show. I'm already rewatching it. So addictive.

The show follows the Brooklyn 99. We have Jake Peralta who is immature but an amazing detective. We have the new commanding officer the serious and stern Captain Holt. Also there is the perfectionist Amy, the goofy Charles, the lovable Terry, the scary Rosa, the always rude Gina, and the epic duo known as Scully and Hitcock.

The cast really make the show. They really play off each other well and I love all the characters. I honestly couldn't tell you my favorite character? Maybe Rosa? Maybe Jake? They are all funny!

If you like Park and Rec then you will like this show. Even if you didn't like the show this has some similarities in characters and writing, but it for sure stands on its own. Such a fun show.

As you can tell I love it. I think my only issue is that some things are impossible and cheesy. Like if all of these things happened to a detective in a few years they would lose their minds. But it does make for an entertaining show for sure.

Overall, watch it if you like humor! Fun and funny all in one. 5 stars for me. I am already rewatching it again. Cannot wait for season 8 in Feb!

Time for TV Tuessday: Versailles (Season 3)

Recently Finished:

Through: Netflix

Image result for versailles season 3

I've delayed season 3 for a little bit. Not sure why. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it? Finally decided it was time.

The first 2 seasons you felt like you had to side with the King. This season though? Not so much. He has flipped to being a huge dictator and asshole overall. He is more paranoid. More cruel to everyone. The other nobles and the people. I blame that new mistress of his. Grrrr.

But yes, this shows the darker side of his rule. We get to see more of the peasants which was fun. We also get to see the mystery of the Man in the Iron Mask. That was fun! I was hopeful they would cover this. I was honestly shocked at what they did! I thought they were going to do some of the classic theories. I won't say what it is. No spoilers here. ;) It added a whole new complex to the characters for sure.

I still love Marchal. :3 They added a layer of complexity behind him too and that made him better as a character.

There was a lot more character development in this. I think that is why I really did like this season. Everyone gets a layer added and this really showed the good and the bad and how nothing is simply black and white. Life is grey even in the shimmer French court.

This season did make me mad a lot. I was so mad at everyone especially the King. I wanted someone to just shake him. The brother was busy doing his own thing to not really stand his ground and fight his brother back on these decisions. I was highly disappointed in the brother. I get it...he had a big mystery to uncover and he didn't want to deal with the King. You can't blame him...but I was disappointed in him but it all worked out.

Those poor peasants! D: I felt so bad for them. I even felt for the Nobles. They all were treated like shit.

Season 3 really did make us question everything and everyone. I liked it a lot. Not as good as the last season, but I think this wanted to focus and make you remember the good and bad of EVERYONE.

I'll give this 4 stars.

Time for TV Tuesday: Victoria (season 3)

Through: Amazon Prime

Image result for victoria season 3

Been super duper anxious to watch season 3. This show has really captured my love. I can't help but adore Victoria. I honestly want to re-watch the other seasons as I wait for season 4.

Now, season 3 takes place in the middle to late 1840's. Revolutions are spreading, there are countless strains on their relationship, new loves, betrayals, and so much more.

I felt so bad for Victoria. Sure she is not innocent in the fights with Albert, but I feel like Albert was a huge asshat this season especially when it comes to Victoria's half-sister coming to stay. Way to completely ignore Victoria and her concerns. SMH. That half-sister...grrr...I woulda kicked her out. Sorry you got married off and shipped away. Not Victoria's fault you wench! No need to be blaming Victoria...she had NOTHING to do with it. I just can't see how blind Albert was. Grr!

I went back and forth on how I felt about Lord Palmerston. I get him...but I also disagree with him in a lot of things. I do find his marriage arrangements VERY progressive. When we got to learn more about him and his motives and relationship with his wife...I actually warmed up to him.

OMG THAT ONE EPISODE!!! IT BROKE MY HEART! I was crying my little heart out. Ugly crying for sure. BF walked into the room and was all worried. I couldn't stop. It was so sad. BUT it really was necessary in the long run. Tragedy is the only way to make change. *sobs*

Image result for ugly crying gif

*wipes tears away* Okay moving on. I can go on and on and on about that episode...that scene. UGH!!!! *keeps tears at bay*

Okay...

There were points that I really worried for Vickie and Albert. If it was modern day they would've for SURE divorced. 100%. They were really nasty to each other. And it broke my heart. It does show that even true love can have issues. I'm glad they made the viewers worried. We needed to see it.

Those poor kids of theirs. Albert is too tough especially with Bertie. Poor kid. I get Albert just wants Bertie to be smart and the best because someday the boy will be king. BUT at what cost? His happiness?

Albert got better and like Vickie I never stopped loving him. Super man period. Boys have them too.

The ending was good. Left on a cliffie especially if you have no idea about history. Heck...even I had to do a quick google search and even after then I am concerned.

I NEED SEASON 4 SOON!!!! More please!

Overall, this was a really good season. Not at all flowers and rainbows and unicorns. We got to see some of the cruel world for our royals and our lower class characters. Not everything and everyone is black and white. The world is grey. I'll give this 5 stars. ALL THE FEELS!!!!!

Time for TV Tuesday: Scrubs (Season 1-9)

Recently Finished:

Through: Hulu

Image result for scrubs show

Oooo this show. I haven't watched it in years. I binged watched it in like 2013 or whenever when it was removed from Netflix. Seen it on Hulu and decided it was time to rewatch one of my favorite shows from my youth.

The show follows JD and his hospital pals. We get to see him start as a young intern until the end when he becomes the mentor himself in season 9.

****WARNING! THERE MAY BE SOME SPOILERS!****

And it did not disappoint! SOOO good. Still super funny. I actually even enjoyed the last season where it doesn't fully focus on our old times pals. I wasn't amused with that season back then, but I like it a touch more now. We see new faces with the old cast mainly being mentors and side characters who get some life lessons. I still wished the spotlight was mainly on  the old crew. But I get what they were trying to do. Passing the torch or whatever.

Oh naive JD. I forgot how dumb he is sometimes. Well. They are all dumb. I feel like they all go through a spell of being the asshole or super jerk.

I'll never get the JD/Elliot thing. They are basically the same person. Never wanted them to be together. The on/off thing annoyed me then and it still annoys me now. Meh. Be together or don't. I do love how after X amount of times of this nonsense even the other characters stopped caring too and were annoyed.

Carla and Turk are still my favorite characters. I like everyone in different ways. But I wanted to be Carla. I grew up to be more like Elliot...but what can ya do?

Oooo Perry and Jordan. Love them too.

The side characters are always a hoot.

The jokes are cheesy and fun. And some parts are super unrealistic. BUT it was all fun. I love the series moments too. It is not all fun and games. We get some real stuff here. Life lessons we all can take with us. Beautiful combo. Beautiful mixed together!

Image result for perfection gif

I am still bummed at season 9. It just...ended. I think the writers expected another season and didn't get it. It felt rush and not completed. I was shocked when Hulu said I was done. WHAT??? THAT IS IT???? NOOOO!

Honestly... I don't think this season was needed. Maybe they could've done a TV movie or something. All the fans demanded this show came back and it did but not how the fans wanted. We wanted more of the old cast, but not everyone could come back for whatever reason. Bummer, but people have lives and other responsibilities....SO I get it.

Besides for my mixed emotions on season 9, I LOVE, LOVE this show. All good. Wonderful characters. Great jokes. Great lessons. Totally worth it to just watch 1-8 and 9 is if you need just a touch more to weed yourself off the show. I will stamp this with 4 stars. It would be 5, but season 9 does lower this mathematically.
