TMST: Book Pricing - How Much Will I Pay For Them?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

Book Pricing: How much will you pay for an ebook? A hard copy? A paperback?

This is the ultimate question for us book readers. How much money are we willing to pay for our addictions?

I'm a frugal person overall and I like to be cheap. But I do have my moments of wanting to splurge. Books are one addiction I sometimes will indulge in spending money on them.

I love Amazon freebies. They are a hit or miss, but I like 'em. However, there are times the book I want isn't free or at the library or I just simply do not want to wait for it.

For ebooks I'll spend maybe no more than 10 bucks. A hard or paper copy, I'll spend up to 30 bucks depending on how much I want it. Generally, I try to buy all my books 10 bucks or less. I love used books and that is my go-to.

Now, audiobooks I don't like to buy at all. I have Audible where I get one freebie a month. I also tacted on the Romance Package that allows me countless amounts of books for free. The catch is that I do not get to keep them and I can only have 10 at a time. So when I'm done listening, I'll remove it from my library and replace it. It's perfect.

Overall, I'll go for free first and then depending on how much I want the book will determine how much I'm willing to spend on it.

Here are a couple of paintings I've done recently. :)

You nailed it right there with the 'depends on how bad I want it', but for the most part, I've been good and stick to freebies, sales, giveaways, and the library.

Love the bold colors. That last picture keeps drawing my eye back to it.

I did not know that that is how the romance package works, and yes that is why I like the services we have here that I have tried. You can try as much as you want, but you never get to keep them. I always think that if I truly love one I can then buy it.

Oh, you are a creative person, how nice to know! I like that cat!

I stick to used books and cheap bookshops where different publishers get rid of their stock at reduced price - like 50% reduced or more. Your choice is limited but hey, you don't pay more than 2-5 dollars for a book so you are free to experiment. And of course freebies are very nice ;p.

I love your paintings. Thanks for sharing.
I have gotten to the point where I pretty much what I want if I can't get ahold of a review copy. And I don't mind paying $16 for a Kindle edition of something I really want. I like the convenience of ebooks.
I get two Audible credits a month, and still end up buying more occasionally.
