TMST: New Hobbies/Interests

November 10th: have you found any new interests or hobbies during the covid lockdown/stay at home orders?

No real new hobbies that I can immediately think of. Been trying to really focus on the hobbies and interests I do like.

I will say I did buy my switch a few months ago shortly after the pandemic hit so I guess that would count? I played the old Animal Crossing games, but I've become ADDICTED to this new game. So fun!

A painting I did the other day. :)

TMST: Giving 2nd Chances

TMSToption2Blue

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

if a book disappoints you by an author that you read for the first time, how likely are you to try that author again?

Honestly...it all depends on the situation and the author. I'm always open for 2nd chances and trying a book or author again. However, there are times I will put my foot down and say no. Those are rare examples and I can only think of one off the top of my head....I won't name names ;)

But yes - this is a hard question to give a solid answer. It all depends.

Tell Me Something Tuesday: Interesting Things About Me

TMSTBLUE1

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

Fun Post: Share interesting things about yourself.

Oh lord. I am so bad at these. We had to do these in every single college class and sometimes work likes to take interest in us, the workers, and we have to make a PowerPoint or say something in a meeting.

- I developed a recent love of painting. Never used to be good, but I did a work outing where we went to Painting with a Twist. It sparked a love in me. I've painted on my own and gone to Painting with a Twist three times now. .

Most recent one I did at Painting with a Twist

- I was born in San Diego, CA. After my parents divorce when I was 3, we moved to Michigan.

No photo description available.

- Recently I just added two more tattoos to my collection so that brings it to a total of 7 now (does mental counting) Yes, 7 I believe?

- I started off in college going for a Surgical Tech degree...changed to a History Teacher degree with a minor in English...and I ended up with Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.

- My two favorite animals are blue jays and camels.

I think that is it.

Tell Me Something Tuesday: To Tour or Not to Tour

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. To Tour or Not to Tour? Do you participate in book tours? Why or why not?

I do really enjoy being part of tours. They are a fun way to connect and learn more about a book and authors. I find them even more fun when it is a good book that is totally overlooked or new. The only issue is when the book is…well…not that good. I try to be very selective when joining a tour so I can avoid the awkward email to the publisher or organizer. I don’t want to be that reviewer who hated the book. Ekkk that is a nightmare for me.

If I am iffy about the book or I know I do not have time, I’ll still try and join and just post an excerpt or interview or something. I love independent books and I love to give them some time to shine! It keeps the industry alive.

So yes, I love to join tours, but I can be picky.

And just for fun! Here is a painting I did that has "PINK" in it ;)

TMST: Book Pricing - How Much Will I Pay For Them?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

Book Pricing: How much will you pay for an ebook? A hard copy? A paperback?

This is the ultimate question for us book readers. How much money are we willing to pay for our addictions?

I'm a frugal person overall and I like to be cheap. But I do have my moments of wanting to splurge. Books are one addiction I sometimes will indulge in spending money on them.

I love Amazon freebies. They are a hit or miss, but I like 'em. However, there are times the book I want isn't free or at the library or I just simply do not want to wait for it.

For ebooks I'll spend maybe no more than 10 bucks. A hard or paper copy, I'll spend up to 30 bucks depending on how much I want it. Generally, I try to buy all my books 10 bucks or less. I love used books and that is my go-to.

Now, audiobooks I don't like to buy at all. I have Audible where I get one freebie a month. I also tacted on the Romance Package that allows me countless amounts of books for free. The catch is that I do not get to keep them and I can only have 10 at a time. So when I'm done listening, I'll remove it from my library and replace it. It's perfect.

Overall, I'll go for free first and then depending on how much I want the book will determine how much I'm willing to spend on it.

Here are a couple of paintings I've done recently. :)

Tell Me Something Tuesday: Series

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

What series that you tried this year will you continue?

A hard question for this week!

I am so bad at series of all kinds. I will try a lot of book 1s (or even a random book in the middle of the series) and then move on and never return. Not because the book is bad or anything but because I don’t care enough to go back. Sometimes I have all intentions, but I won’t look at the book series for a couple of years and I’m shocked I forgot about it.

However, there are those series that I legit cannot put down. I will read the entire series within a couple of months (I do try to contain myself and space them out). And then I am left a sobbing mess because I miss the series.

This is a tough question for me because I am unsure of what series I will pick back up next year. We shall see I guess!

Tell Me Something Tuesday: THANKFUL

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

What Are You Thankful For?

It’s hard to remember everything that is good and worth being thankful for. Life can really throw a lot of curveballs. Life can be a real BEYYOTTCH. However, it really is good to sit down and recall all the good things life has done:

- My health and life
- My lovely house
- My BF even though I want to kick him sometimes
- My family
- My friends
- My blog friends
- THIS blog
- Books
- My fur babies
- My job (even though it kills me sometimes)

These are just a few things that I can think of right off the top of my head. My life is not how I fantasized about, but I love my life nonetheless.
