This was a freebie under my Romance Package in Audible. Not sure why...but I've been meaning to check out this author out...so why not?

The story follows Detectives Selena and Regan who are so different, but at the core, they are so similar. They are dragged into a case that is a living nightmare for women. A serial killer who is killing women by causing them to crash their car in the middle of the nowhere, save them, make them fall in love with them, and then drag them to the woods, strip them naked and tie them to a tree to die. Horrible. At the same time, Jillian wakes up in her mangled car. A man saves her. Is he the killer? Or is the killer still out there? Or is it someone else more dangerous? 

There are two mysteries going on at the same time. Are they connected? Or they completely different? I found this interesting and risky to do. I didn't mind it, but I wish this had been two different books. I wasn't crazy about two mysteries criss-crossing and maybe being connected, but maybe not.

The beginning was slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. I'm so glad I was just listening to the book instead. If I had been reading it, I think I would've skimmed and maybe even yawned and DNFed it. However, the narrator kept me hooked to the story. Plus I want that serial killer dead. What a sicko!!!!!! Freakin' monster. 

After the slowness went away I was hooked. I had my guesses and I was sorta right. But then I was wrong at the same time. The author really does know how to smack the reader with a good twist. THAT ending...ugh. It was a cliffhanger, but it didn't bug me too much. I have already put book 2 on my shelf because I need to know what happens next. 

Like I mentioned briefly, the narrator really made the story. He was so good. He kept me listening even though I was not amused by the beginning and the double mystery going on. The characters intrigued me and I want that serial killer dead! Can't wait for book 2. I'll give this 3 stars.
