Time for TV Tuesday: The Bold Type (Season 4)

Recently Finished:

The Bold Type Poster
Through: Hulu

"The show is a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for a global women's magazine. Their struggles are about finding your identity, managing friendships and getting your heartbroken, all while wearing the perfect jeans to flatter any body type.." - IMDb

I was excited that they were able to finish filming season 4 before the world went nuts and covid stopped production of a lot of shows. Huzzah! I've been itching for season 4.

We start pretty much where we left off in the last season. Some heartbreak and some major life changes for our girls.

Good for you Jane. Even though I am sad about _____, I am glad you got the confidence to say enough is enough and take life by the horns. Kuddos girl.

Oh Kat....even though I applaud you...how can you be surprised that happened? And I am on your parents' side.

Sutton...I love you! I was so happy for you! And now I'm mad.

But things go south for pretty much everyone here. Sure we get to see some happy things, but this was a sad season especially for Sutton. She has a lot of growing up to do. Same with Kat. Jane has a lot of body issues this time around WHICH what can you do? It was bound to happen.

I AM NOT HAPPY WITH ENDING! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! YOU CANNOT DO THAT! FIX IT WRITERS FIX IT!

I will NOT say, but I am beyond livid. The last 2 episodes made my cry and now I am worried. *fingers crossed* Hopefully things get better in season 5.

Overall....I am worried about this show. Season 4 ended horribly for me. It started SO good. Yes, drama. Yes, sadness. But what???? Sighs it better get better in the next season or I may have to say I'm done. Which will break my heart. I'll give this 2 stars. Sorry - the last 2 episodes really made me mad. The season started SO strong and ended so bad. Sighs.

While Spencer has a stick up his butt. He loves his work at the Home office. He doesn't want kids. He doesn't want a wife. He was very gruff. But he had that goodness inside that he didn't let out.

Until they meet. And argue cos wtf I didn't marry you?! And argue. And are upset and lust after each other

I enjoyed it cos he had his silly reasons that sure I understood but let it go man!

Good narrator. Nice American and English accent. Very good with Spencer's voice. Enjoyable narrator

(The King Trials #2)
Genre: Fantasy

Where I Got It: My shelf (Given to me by the author/published)

Summary:

Two princes lead a war-broken people. One rules while the other serves in the shadows, haunted by encroaching death.

Halavant overthrew his queen mother to save his people from slavery, and now she seeks his life. Yosyph acts as the new king's eyes and ears, but being invisible comes at great cost and his life is slipping away.

To save his closest friend, Halavant travels to the land of the skin-carving Carani, leaving Yosyph to rule a troubled people despite his ill health and the nobles on the verge of rebellion.

Unless Halavant can survive in the land of his enemies to find a cure and Yosyph can unite the frightened and starving people against a second war, both will die and their budding democracy will crumble under a new tyrant.

Review:

I was excited to get my hands on this since I really enjoyed book 1.

We continue on the journey of Halavant and Yosyph. The queen mother is overthrown and the people are saved from slavery. However, the battle is not over. Yosyph is the new King's eyes and ears, but being invisible is putting his life at risk and he is wasting away. To save him, Halavant has to travel to the land of the skin-carving Carani and find a cure. While he's gone Yosyph has to try and rule the troubled people who are the verge of rebellion.

They cannot have a moment of relaxation and peace! I feel for them for sure, but I figured it wasn't going to be easy taking over these people and bringing peace. They were under the queen's thumb for so long. Poor people.

I do like how you can read this as a standalone okay, but I do highly encourage reading book 1 to fully see everything and watch our characters grow. Totally worth it.

There was a romance mixed in, but it didn't take over the story which made me happy. They have enough on their plates! But yes - we do get to see some resolution and love that I've been rooting for since book 1. NO spoilers at all. SOOO I will stop there ;)

I will also applaud the author for not letting Katrin and Elise fall in the background and be damsels. They had a huge part in the story too. I like both of them a lot too and I was worried that now that were going to be left behind and not included since the boys have their power. Yayy.

This was a quick read. I got this done in 3 sittings. I really couldn't put it down. I was sooooo worried about Yosyph (who is my absolutely my favorite). Eeee! SAVE HIM DON'T LET HIM WASTE AWAY! WAAH!

The ending was good. It made me cheer!

Overall, I really liked this as much as book 1. The characters have really continued to grow and the adventure is not over for our team. I couldn't put this down. I highly recommend this series if you are looking for a good fantasy. Maybe there will be a book 3 ;). I'm going to stamp this with 4 stars.

TRAILER:

REVIEW:

I've wanted to see this live for soooo long. I love musicals and I love history (duh). Thank you Disney + for being awesome and getting this for all of us!

The story is mainly about Alexander Hamilton who was America's foremost founding fathers and first Secretary of the Treasury. His story is rarely told for numerous reasons. This play showcases his story.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! I have watched this twice already. I watched it with a couple of pals and then the next day I forced BF to watch it with me. I plan to watch it again in the next couple of days. I've even listened to the album on YouTube.

The music is fantastic. It's fun and fresh. It really gets stuck in your head.

The acting is wonderful! I am always in awe of those that can sing, dance, and act and every single actor can. They really bring the story alive.

The way the story is told is fantastic as well. They cover so many years in 2 hours and 40 mins and it didn't feel like we were missing too much and I feel they stuck with the real historical facts as much as possible.

And yes - this is mainly about Alexander Hamilton and his legacy he was trying to create, but it was nice to see the other characters and learn more about them.

I will admit I was worried this was going to be corny and feel like one of those plays of lame people trying to make something boring cool and "appease the youth" (you know those plays or sketches I'm talking about especially in school). I was worried for sure, but my worries were for naught. This wasn't corny at all and it really made these historical figures feel real and alive telling their stories.

Jefferson's coming home song is my favorite. It cracked me up.

I also loved, loved, LOVED King George's solos. He was a hoot.

Okay - I'll end now before I ramble too long. But this was fantastic. I still want to see this live but this is a good alternative and I loved this cast so much. I highly recommend you watch it. It is SO worth it.

5 stars...of course.
