Audiobook Review: Snake by Lilly Atlas

Author: Lilly Atlas
Narrator: Noah Michael Levine, Erin deWard
Title: Snake
Series: No Prisoners MC #5
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense, Erotica
Format: Audiobook

Summary:
Grimm Brothers MC president, Snake, battled his way to his position by any and all means necessary. He was powerful, respected, commanding; but most importantly, he was feared. Then, at the height of power, one ruthless misstep crumbled his kingdom in an instant. Beaten within inches of his life by a member of a rival MC, betrayed and left for dead by his own club, Snake has only two things left to focus on: healing and revenge.

As a physical therapist working in the trauma unit, Amanda thought she had seen it all. That is until she met a patient known to her as Nick, a broken man who had sustained the most severe beating she’d ever encountered. Surly, brooding, and angry, he should be a nightmare patient. But under the rough exterior, Amanda couldn’t help but be drawn to his determination to heal. Not to mention he was ridiculously attractive, to the point that she found herself giving him some extra attention.

Women like Amanda—kind, sweet, intelligent, independent, respectable—don’t exist in Snake’s world. When she offers him a place to live after his hospital stay, he can’t figure her out. The more time they spend together, the more torn he becomes between two realities: a gruesome MC world full of lies, betrayal, and hatred, or a life with Amanda that promises healing and peace.

As Snake helps Amanda through some troubling times, passion flares. For the first time in his life, he actually cares about a woman. It’s enough to make him question everything. But after leading a life as a dedicated outlaw, is it too late to turn around? And if not, is he willing to leave his vendetta behind?

Review:
Been delaying reading this because I hated Snake. This is the last of series, but I finally decided to use my Audible credit to finally say I did it and finished the series.

Snake was beaten to an inch of his life and was tossed in a ditch and left for dead. He is saved and wakes up in a hospital. He worked his way to the top of the Grimm Brothers and was a nasty piece of work; he was powerful, respected, commanding, and feared. But now he is in a hospital bed and tossed to the side from the only world he ever knew. Enter in Amanda who is a physical therapist. Nick, aka Snake, seems like he would be a nightmare patient but the two work well together to get him back on his feet. For some reason, she offers him a place on her property....help her fix up some of her cabins she inherited so she can rent them out. Not only that, but Snake in turn helps Amanda through some troubling times. Passion flares and for the first time ever, he grows to care about a woman and question everything. Will he leave that world behind and stay as Nick?

In the past books, I hated Snake with every fiber of my being. He was ruthless and mean and did bad things to our boys in the other books (rival MC club and all...so sure). However, I grew to like him. He's not my favorite of the boys, but..................I respected him. He sure made a huge change and NO it didn't happen overnight. I think it will always be a battle to shake off his past. He was raised in that world and he has a lot of things he was taught from his parents and other adults.

Amanda was a darling. Loved her to bits! I would want to be her bestie.

There was a scene I nearly cried at. It was a lovely moment for Nick and Amanda (and another character I will not name for the sake of spoilers). I won't spoil it but it was so healing for everyone involved.

Oh Kat. I hope she can find her way and maybe find love. Maybe there will be some sort of spin-off? *researches* Not sure. I looked at a series that is a spin-off/has a crossover with this series, but I didn't see her name anywhere. Maybe she'll pop up someday. I'm sure she wants nothing to do with the MC after her experiences, but sighs. I want to see her happy. I liked her!!!! I'm a little let down in the epilogue. They mention she is working on her recovery, but I think the author did her dirty.

Honestly, I felt the epilogue needed more. More of a conclusion especially with this being the end of the series. SURE there is some stories set in this world so MAYBE we'll see their names again and learn more, but I feel like we needed more to be done with the series.

Now, the narrators were a blast. I believe they did the past ones too. Love a good duo that works well together. She read all the lady parts and he read the boy voices; it was beautifully done.

In the end, I was EXTREMELY hesitant because of Snake and his past. I was pleasantly surprised that ended up liking him and (can't believe I'm going to say this) root for him. Oof! The redemption of Snake was well done and well written. Amanda is a gem to society and I love her. I'm mad at the epilogue though. We needed more info to tie up some of the loose ends. It just didn't feel complete to me, like there would be another book after this.

All-in-all, 3 stars from me. I really enjoyed this series. It ended on a good note overall.

(No Prisoners MC #4)
Genre: Romance, Contemporary, Mystery
Format: Audiobook

Summary:
After spending six months caring for her terminally ill mother, Kori is shocked when she learns the true identity of her father. Armed with the name of a man she’s never met, Kori sets off across the country to meet the person responsible for half of her DNA. There’s only one problem: he’s the President of the No Prisoners Las Vegas chapter.

Raised as the step-daughter of an MC member, Kori has one rule when it comes to dating: no bikers. Following that rule becomes a challenge, however, when she meets Lucky, a member of her father’s club.

Lucky has his own perspective on the dating world: don’t do it. He’s a tried and true bachelor with a revolving door to his bedroom and no interest in a relationship. But what starts as some harmless flirting quickly escalates until he can’t get Kori out of his mind.

For a time, the relationship seems perfect, but Lucky is struggling with a secret. He discovered that the president and VP are breaking club bylaws in a way that might undermine the entire chapter. He was preparing to take action when Kori arrived in town. Now he has to make a decision: will he move against the club leadership knowing that Kori will be caught in the crossfire? And what will happen if he holds onto the secret for too long?

Review:
Been excited about this one. I liked Lucky from the previous ones and I wanted to see what was up with him. You could tell there was something wrong in the last book so I was anxious to see what happened and to finally see him fall in loveeee.

We follow Kori and Lucky. Kori has been taking care of her dying mother for months and after she passes, she finds out who her father is. Armed with the knowledge of who her father is, she travels across the country to find him and meet him. Turns out he is the president of the No Prisoners Las Vegas chapter. Lucky is part of that club, but he learned a dark secret that the president and the VP are selling drugs which is a huge NO-NO for the club but what is he to do? Loyalty means everything. When Kori comes into the picture it is lust and maybe love at first sight, it makes it harder for him to decide what to do about this betrayal.

Awww I adore Lucky. Poor thing had a rough upbringing and then what happened to his little sister while he was away in the military. Poor thing!!! Sobbssss!!

And poor Kori! It's not easy watching someone you love fall be so sick and pass away. Soobbbsss!!! So sad! Dang that "father" of hers. >_> I'm glad she at least found Lucky.

I did find that their lust and acting upon that lust was QUICK! Maybe a little too quick. Sure, Kori is still mourning the loss of her mom, but I feel like she caved too quickly especially given her rule of NOT dating or doing bikers. He was a gentleman for like 2 secs and she tossed her rule out the window and jumped into bed with him. Smh. Too quick.

Oooooo that twist of drama was good. Totes didn't see that coming. It really added a good twist to the story. It was seeming a little...boring and typical, but that twist added some serious drama. Yayy. But dang Lucky...don't be so daft and dumb. Men. LOL

The narrators were amazing again. I love the duo for these!

Overall, I enjoyed this. Loved Lucky and Kori. They were cute. I do think they jumped into lust and then love a hair quick for my liking especially with Kori's lifelong rule. The narrators are fantastic as per normal. Out of five stars, I'll give this 4 stars.

After one unforgettable night with a dangerous outlaw, Fia knows she must limit contact with the kind of man who could never fit in her wealthy circle. Unfortunately, she can't keep their brief but passionate encounter far from her thoughts. When she seeks him out for reasons unrelated to their chemistry, the worst happens, and Fia is attacked by a madman. With her life turned upside down, she seeks help from the one person she can’t get out of her mind.

Betrayed by someone he should have been able to trust above all, Acer spends the next two decades of his life avoiding entanglements that have any chance of ending with a knife in his back. The MC life provides a safe way to have personal connections and loyalty due to its simple rule: betray the club and punishment will be severe. Still, he keeps a large part of himself locked away inside, hidden even from his MC brothers. When the woman who’s been messing with his head for months reappears in his life needing sanctuary, Acer jumps to her aid. He’s committed to help her reclaim her life, but determined to keep her at arms-length in the process.

As Acer and Fia fight their growing feelings, his club is in danger from a new and different kind of enemy. Will his refusal to put his full trust in anyone, including the woman he’s falling for, end up destroying more than betrayal ever could?

Book 3! I've been curious about Acer finding love. He is mysterious for sure.

The story follows Acer and Fia. They both are misfits in the world of wealth. Acer's father betrayed him so he took off and found a better family with the MC group. Fia just wants to run her own business, but her parents want her to marry and just be a trophy wife. Terrible parents they both have so they both have issues with trust. They meet at a charity event and they have a one night stand. Some time goes by and Fia learns something that could endanger the club. She goes to Acer to tell him...but the unspeakable happens and Fia is attacked by a madman. With her life upside down, she seeks helps from the one man she feels she can trust.

This was good. It had a different format then the others. There is insta-lust and mutual fondness between them. They are both misfits in their world and they find each other. They have a crazy night of sex and then part ways. They come together again months later when Fia finds out that Acer's father is up to something dangerous that could endanger Acer and his gang. Something horrible happens to Fia and Acer helps her find herself again. It was very sweet. The love takes time even though we all know it is there. They care for each other.

Poor Fia. I had a hard time getting through the terrible events. Luckily it wasn't over detailed so it made it easier, but I adore Fia so it made it hard. I kept screaming "ACER FIND HER! SAVE HER! HURRY!" Poor girl.

I loved that the majority of the book was about Acer helping Fia get through her trauma. He totally didn't have to, because they weren't an item, but he cared enough about her to get her through it all. Bless his heart. I adore him too.

I loved the ending. It was beautiful and made me tear up a little bit.

The narrators were fantastic again. They work so well together. I'm so glad they decided to do 2 narrators again!

Overall, this was really good. I adored Fia and Acer both. There was insta-lust and the love was buried in there but was present the whole time even though they didn't want to admit to each other. Very sweet. I'll give this 4 stars.

Audiobook Review: Jester (No Prisoners MC #2)

Thrust into a world of danger and fear, first grade teacher Emily, is forced to comply with a terrifying MC president’s demands in order to save her only brother’s life. Her only port in the storm is Jester, a member of a rival MC she’s supposed to use and betray. Jester proves to be the opposite of everything Emily expects, and before long she’s in his bed and he’s in her heart.

Jester would give life and limb for the No Prisoner’s Motorcycle Club. His sole focus should be on the impending attack against their enemies, the Grimm Brothers. Meeting sweet and innocent Emily wasn’t part of his plan, and falling for her is out of the question.

Can Emily save her brother’s life without destroying the man who opens her eyes and heart to an amazing world of pleasure? She’ll do anything in her power to help her brother while protecting Jester, but when Jester finds out she was sent by his enemy, she may lose everything she’s trying to preserve.

I was excited about this one because I liked Jester from book 1. I wanted to learn more about him and have him finally fall in love!

The story follows Jester who is part of the MC and Emily who is a teacher. Emily wants to save her brother's life at any cost from the Grimm Brothers. However, that means acting as a spy to try and get some info from the No Prisoner's. Things get a little hairy when she actually falls for Jester. Wants makes this worse...she actually feels like she found a family who will love and protect her. What is a girl to do?

Oooooo Emily. The moment you realized you liked Jester and the whole club you should've spoken up. They SO could've figured something out so you can save Johnny and them. They are good people. Bad boys and all, but still good people. I did feel anxious reading this because I was just WAITING for the other shoe to drop. She is a sweet girl who is WAY over her head in all this spying and whatever. Poor thing.

Awww Jester is adorable. I do wish we had learned more about Jester and his past. I did like the story of how he got his name. Made me laugghh!

Acer is also adorable. I think Acer's story is next. Can't wait for that ;)

But yes, I did enjoy this a lot, but I was anxious and mad at Emily. Then I was mad at Jester for a little bit there. Sighs. Communication is key people!

There was insta-lust and the love did happen fairly quickly too. Which meh. I get the lust for sure. How could there not be??? But the love...I'm glad they waited to actually say the words until waaaay later.

Gah Johnny...I wanna smack you.

Snake is a snake. He's such a good baddie.

I was a little thrown off when they decided to add a female voice too! They have the same narrator but he just reads the guy parts and now they have a girl doing the girl voices. I applaud that! It took some adjusting too especially when they had dialogue between a girl and a boy. But overall, it worked really well! I love both of their voices! They fit well.

In the end, this was good. LOTS of drama in this especially once Emily's secret explodes on the page. Loved both our characters. I'll give this a 4.

Audiobook Review: Striker by Lilly Atlas

Striker (No Prisoners MC, #1)
Author: Lilly Atlas
Narrator:  Noah Michael Levine
Title: Striker
(No Prisoners MC #1)
Genre: Romance
Format: Audiobook
Published:  August 9th 2016
Where I Got It: My shelf (Audible)

Dr. Lila Emerson is finally free of the shadow of her politically connected family, with her new job in a small town Emergency Room. But her new peace is shattered when she encounters the dangerous, but compelling Striker. He's everything she should stay away from, but all she craves. And since he keeps turning up in her ER, he's hard to avoid.

As Vice President of No Prisoners outlaw motorcycle club, Striker is no stranger to violence. But when it touches the pretty doctor he wants in his bed, he'll do anything to keep her safe. When Striker and Lila are thrust together, sparks fly and passions ignite. Before long they find themselves entangled in a relationship neither saw coming.

The MC can and will eliminate any threat against Lila, but what if they—and the man she's falling for—are the reason she’s in danger?

I've heard of this author and I've been meaning to try her out. Found this book and it fits a challenge or two so I gave it try!

The story follows Lila and Striker. Lila is a doctor who is finally free of her family who are rich and now in politics. All she wants is freedom and a small town where she can save people. There is one problem though...Striker. Striker is the VP of the town's motorcycle club. He is hot and dangerous. A threat comes up that puts Lila in danger and Striker and his club are the only ones who can protect her.

Ooooo I did love Striker. I also loved Jester. The gang was fun. They are all bad boys and deep in illegal stuff and motorcycles. As much as I love a good MC boy...too much danger for me personally. ;)

I liked Lila too especially when we got to learn more about her past. Her family sucks. I would've left too. Screw them. I do wish we would've had more closure with that aspect. But...she is cut off and wants to stay that way. Sooooo I get it...but I feel like there could've been more character development with this.

There was insta-lust for sure. It sizzled with these guys. There was love there too, but they didn't want to admit to themselves. They each had a foot out the door and for good reasons. It was nice to see that their issues were easily resolvable. I just wanted them to get their HEA! And darn their prides and worries!

The narrator did well. The girl voice was meh. But he is super manly so it is hard to really change it up for each female character and make it sound awesome. Loved his voices for the guys. He has a nice voice for the males. Girls though? Atypical and meh.

Overall, I really liked this story and especially our characters. I'm excited for book 2! I'll give this 4 stars.
