Summary:
They say opposites attract. And in the case of werewolves Anna Latham and Charles Cornick, they mate. The son-and enforcer-of the leader of the North American werewolves, Charles is a dominant alpha. While Anna, an omega, has the rare ability to calm others of her kind.

Now that the werewolves have revealed themselves to humans, they can't afford any bad publicity. Infractions that could have been overlooked in the past must now be punished, and the strain of doing his father's dirty work is taking a toll on Charles.

Nevertheless, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston, when the FBI requests the pack's help on a local serial killer case. They quickly realize that not only the last two victims were werewolves-all of them were. Someone is targeting their kind. And now Anna and Charles have put themselves right in the killer's sights...

Review:
Been itching to read more from the Alpha and Omega series, but I've been wanting to read the books in this world in order.

Here we follow Charles and Anna. Charles is the son of the pack's leader and is an enforcer. Anna is an Omega who has the rare ability to calm others of her kind around her. The werewolves have revealed themselves to humans a while back but they still can't afford any bad publicity. Infractions that had been overlooked in the past must not be punished harshly. The strain of this is taking a toll on Charles and he is being haunted literally and figuratively. When a call from the FBI comes in, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston to act as consultants. Charles' father thinks it would be a good break from being an enforcer. However, the serial killer seems to be targeting werewolves and other supernatural. With someone targeting their kind, they may have just put themselves right in the killer's sights.

So one of my biggest issues has been the lack of chemistry between Anna and Charles over the last couple of books. Well....I take it all back. With this book, the spark is there! Yayy! Sure we were told they love each other and etc....but now I feel it and see it. It took a couple of books. They still have a lot of baggage, but I think Charles finally doesn't see Anna as a victim he needs to save and protect. He sees her as his partner and friend and lover and confidant. Yayy! About time. I was getting worried. But yes, yes, I am now a big fan of these two love-birds (wolves?).

Ooooo there is a lot going on here. There is a serial killer(s) running a body count over decades. Dang. Glad the FBI finally involved folks like Charles and Anna to help out. Dumb humans.

OOOOO that end has my blood boiling. Yes, yes, something DOES happen that made me applaud, but I was seeing red at the other event. Can't say without spoiling, but OMG. Humans are terrible and dumb. Grrr. (Trying not to give away spoilers is hard with this one!) But yes, I anticipate HUGE issues happening because of the conclusion of this book for both this series and the sister series of Mercy Thompson. This is going to cause big ol' ripples. And just to say it....I do not side with humans here. They messed up big time.

I missed Bran! We didn't get to see him too much here. Love him!

Let's see...what else.....oh.

The mystery was tantalizing that is for darn sure! I was not sure how, who, where, why (okay I guessed the why - humans suck). It had me on the edge of my seat the whooooolllllleeeee time. Yes, so good.

And that narrator is utter perfection for these characters. I hope he continues with the rest of the series. I can't get myself to read the ebook or paper book while I know he is narrating. Fantastic voices for all.

Okay....I feel like I can rant and rave about this one. It is for sure my favorite of the A&O series.

In the end, 5 stars of course. I for recommend reading this. You will want to at least read the other two in the series first. You don't HAVE to read the Mercy Thompson set of books, but it does help with the timeline since Mercy and Anna/Charles meet here and there.

I don't know why I don't connect to this series as much as the other

I'm so glad you are reading these two series in order - they really need to be. I had read the MT books first (up to Frost Burned), and it was clear that a major, unexplained event happened "off screen," and it bothered me that it wasn't addressed within the book. Well... I found out that it was explained, but in Fair Game. So it's great you are reading them in order.

That sounds great. I need to give this author a chance at some point.
