Summary:
I could smell her fear, and it satisfied something deep inside me that had been writhing under her cool, superior gaze. I curled my upper lip so she could get a good look at my sharp teeth. I might only weigh thirty or so pounds in my coyote shape, but I was a predator...

Mechanic Mercy Thompson can shift her shape - but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.

Mercy's loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can't decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her...

Review:
**There is a mini spoiler below**

I am loving this series and this world. I have been itching for this one and I've been on the wait-list from my library. It has finally arrived!

Mercy's mentor is arrested for a murder he did not commit and he is being left to rot behind bars by his own kind. It's up to Mercy to clear his name....whether or not he wants to be saved. At the same time, Mercy's loyalty is under even more pressure from Sam and Adam who both want her. She has to decide soon before she loses both.

Ooooooo Mercy. She has been super unlucky lately. I don't envy her one bit.

I did enjoy getting to learn more about the Fae in this world. They are some nasty creatures. I am more scared of them then the vamps or werewolves. *shudders*. There are some good ones, but even they scare me a bit.

Honestly...this whole book felt so depressing especially when an event happens that nearly breaks poor Mercy. I sobbed when I seen the writing on the wall and what was going to happen. SOBSSSS! Mercy is one badass gal and this nearly broke her. Poor thing. I instantly had to hurry up and get the next book downloaded so I can start it. I do worry.

The mystery on who the murderer was fun. I had a crazy theory and I was oddly right. The ways I didn't know, but the who I was right. Don't ask me how. There was something about that baddie that rubbed me the wrong way from the moment we meet that character. I am curious to maybe go through this again and see all the clues and hints the author left.

What also made this really sad and depressing was that Mercy finally has a moment of clarity and has an epiphany on who she has to pick. I was pretty happy. Spoiler -not spoiler (it's pretty much in the summary of book 4 so psh) - she picks Adam. Sure...I grew to appreciate Samuel as the books went along, but I just had a feeling in my gut she needs to be with Adam. More chemistry. More actual love and Adam trusts Mercy and won't keep her locked-up to keep her safe. He knows she is a wild card and never listens to anyone. It is what it is. Samuel sees Mercy as more of a little girl he still needs to protect. Sure Adam gets super Alpha here and there, but he understands sometimes Mercy is impulsive and has been by herself for a while.

The narrator is fantastic. Perfect voices for all. I thinks he brings extra life into the world and the characters. All the different accents can be daunting, but she does well.

In the end, I really enjoyed this one even though I cried at the end. I already have the next book downloading. I can't wait. 4 stars.

It's so funny because I completely forget there was a bit of a love triangle in the beginning. As you guessed, it doesn't last. This series continues to get better and better.

I was worried it was going to ruin stuff but by you could tell she was going to have to pick. Two alphas fighting for her? Not a good idea. LOL
