Anna Latham didn’t know how complicated life could be until she became a werewolf. And until she was mated to Charles Cornick, the son — and enforcer — of Bran, the leader of the North American werewolves, she didn’t know how dangerous it could be either...

Anna and Charles have just been enlisted to attend a summit to present Bran’s controversial proposition: that the wolves should finally reveal themselves to humans. But the most feared Alpha in Europe is dead set against the plan — and it seems like someone else might be too. When Anna is attacked by vampires using pack magic, the kind of power only werewolves should be able to draw on, Charles and Anna must combine their talents to hunt down whoever is behind it all — or risk losing everything...

Review:
Yayy! This finally came in for me. I've been on hold at the library for a million years.

Anna never realized how complicated life could be until she became a werewolf and especially being mated to Charles Cornick. Charles is the son and enforcer of Bran, the leader of the North American werewolves. Anna and Charles have been enlisted to attend a summit to present Bran's proposal....that the wolves should finally reveal themselves to the humans. However, the most feared Alpha is dead set against the plan. From the sounds of it...so is everyone. When Anna is attacked by vamps using pack magic, Charles and Anna must hunt down whoever is behind it all.

The mystery of the whos was good. I had no idea. The obvious answer was in fact not the answer so that shocked me. The big reveal had me screaming!!!! NOOOO!! GAH. I was so mad at that baddie. Psycho.

Anna went through hell in her last pack so she is damaged. I love how patient Charles is. It is very sweet. He is very closed off though, but he's slowly opening up too which makes me happy. He's been the enforcer too long. Bran needs to retire him or give him a different job for a while.

As much as I like Anna and Charles....I do worry about them as a mated couple. They both have SOOOO much baggage. I kept thinking.....maybe Anna should be with Charles' brother. Could I be biased? I adore Charles? I don't know. I hope to see more chemistry and lurrveee between these two in future books.

I wish we had gotten to see Bran more. I do like him a lot. I want him to be happy. Poor guy.

I must give big kuddos to the narrator. There were a LOT of characters running around with different accents. I applaud him for keeping everyone straight. I never wondered who was talking. Yayy for that.

In the end, I'll give this 4 stars. No huge issues. I am just struggling to see these two making it. Maybe with them both opening up more and more we'll finally see that spark.

They do have a hard road, but it makes it extra special that they do connect. Loved the twists and turns in this one. I need to try it on audio.

Nice review. It's been so long since I've read this one, I forgot that they did struggle a bit. But I love their story and this series. SOOOO good.
