HE'LL CHOOSE THEM...
Detective Regan Pescoli has worked the "Star Crossed Killer" case for months, never imagining she'd be captured by the madman she's been hunting. Regan knows exactly what he's capable of - and avoiding the same fate will take every drop of her courage and cunning.

ABDUCT THEM...
Regan Pescoli is unlike any woman Nate Santana has met before. But now she's missing, and Nate knows something is dangerously wrong. The only person who can help him find her is Detective Selena Alvarez, Regan's partner. As Nate and Selena dig deeper into the Star-Crossed Killer case and the body count rises, the truth about Regan's disappearance becomes chillingly clear.

AND KILL THEM...
In the desolate Montana woods, evil is lurking. And with time running out, the only way to save Regan will be to get inside a killer's twisted mind and unravel a shocking message that is being revealed, one body at a time...

Book 2 finally. Been curious to see what was going to happen after the whole cliffie at the end of the last one.

The story continues. The serial killer is still out there and the bodies keep rising. Now one of the main detectives is the next victim. Will she survive? Who is next? Will they stop him?

Super scary stuff. One of my fears honestly. Those poor women. Such a terrible fate! I just wanted them to get him so bad. Evil. Pure evil. Poor Regan knowing that her fate and life hangs in the balance.

I'm glad we avoided much of the romance in this. Sure it does fall under the Romance package, but to be honest, there really wasn't much in there. Nate realized that he loves her, but that was pretty much it.

I am so upset at the beginning though. The continuity was....a wee bit off. I was actually confused and it hasn't been that long since I finished the last one. At first, I thought it was me and my spotty memory...but then I realized no it can't be. So I did some looking up and thank goodness I'm not the only one who noticed this. *wipes sweat from brow* So not a great start.

The story did get better, BUT I wanted to fast-forward...so much time was wasted with repeating and over explanations. Ugh. What happened to the author? The first book was pretty good. Not amazing, but good. I really felt like the author was delaying and trying to stretch this out and making it longer then it should've been.

And I am really upset with the narrator. He did so well in the last one...but this? I feel like he didn't do so well. Was it the same guy? *does research* He did! What? I remember enjoying his voice last time. What was different? I've listened to previous ones by him and never had issues. Was it an off day? Not sure...I am so confused. Maybe there were too many characters? He never changed his voice for them...so I had to really pay attention.

The ending was good! What a what to end this! What is next? I am still a touch curious even after the mess of this one.

Overall, I am bummed by this. It was not as good or near as good book 1. The continuity was super off from the beginning. Too many characters running around with a narrator who didn't even try to change his voice for them. Super long inner-monologues, over-explained scenes, and too many fillers. The ending was fantastic! But ugh...I am really struggling with grabbing book 3. I'll stamp this with 2 stars. The extra star is for the ending and how exciting that was and the fact the author avoided being too romance-y.
