Blog All About It: Bloom

This month's prompt is:  Bloom

Gunna go the lazy root this month! Sharing some poems with BLOOM mixed in. ;)

Beauty in nature
Flower blooms so succulent
Hummingbirds flutter
by: Carol Brown

Petrichor
by: Gutter Grimer

Dripping in and out
A framed landscape
Of seasons
Permeated on your porch
Blooming in their decay
Sulfur would smell
As sweet as summer
Within these picket pillars

Bloom
by: Sergio Esteban

A beautiful meadow
Lays dormant inside
I wished it blossom
But it’s not its time
It’s been neglected
For such a long time
But it needs attention
To bloom in time

I’ll take care of you
If you let me in
We all have our troubles
No one is immune to sin
I know you’re not perfect
But neither am I
We’re just mere mortals
On this garden of eden
We call life

My eyes run blood red
Like the moon at times
I’m always wishing
I could be by your side
But you’re so far away
You’re my Andromeda
You’re two seconds away
From fading away
But don’t worry
I’ve made it past the ISS
And my final destination
Is your constellation

I wouldn’t have it any other way

Let The Flowers Bloom
by: Marilyn Lott

Don’t you miss the flowers
In the midst of a frosty day?
I can hardly wait for spring time
And I’m sure you feel that way

I have a few tiny blossoms
Peeking out their little heads
But the problem is you see
There’s snow on my flower beds

But it won’t be long now, folks
When the gorgeous blossoms bloom
And the fragrance fills our house
And wafts through every room

I know the bumble bees
Are waiting just as we are
But where is it that they wait?
I know they can’t be far

I’m sure it won’t be long now
Our world will change quite soon
For spring is creeping closer

Oh, let the flowers bloom!

Blog All About It: BEGINNING - POETRY EDITION

This month the prompt is "BEGINNING". I went back and forth on what I should do. I had ideas but everything fell through. SOOOO I will do the easy idea....poems about BEGINNINGS. Hehe.

BY JAMES WRIGHT
The moon drops one or two feathers into the field.
The dark wheat listens.
Be still.
Now.
There they are, the moon's young, trying
Their wings.
Between trees, a slender woman lifts up the lovely shadow
Of her face, and now she steps into the air, now she is gone
Wholly, into the air.
I stand alone by an elder tree, I do not dare breathe
Or move.
I listen.
The wheat leans back toward its own darkness,
And I lean toward mine.

By David Malouf

The table’s there in the kitchen, where I kneel
on a high chair, tongue at air, trawling a slate
with pot-hooks; on the track of words; on the track of this word,
table. Is there instant, wobbly wooden,
four-square in it solid self, and does not need
my presence to underwrite its own or scrawl,
thick tongue, thick hand, a puddle slate and knock it
up out of blue nowhere. Where are they, table,
slate, slate-pencil, kitchen, and that solid
intent child on one knee reaching for sawn
planks back there? Breathless today, or almost,
I wrestle uphill to where, in a forest gap
of table size, it stands, four legged, dumb,
still waiting. An unbreathed word among the chirrup
and chafe, it taps a foreleg. Table, I mutter.
With tool-marks fresh as tongue-licks, already criss-crossed
with scars I feel my own where hard use makes them,
it moves as that child’s hand moves about muddy water.

By Ruth Vanita

Coming so late, you made all early
Again — all was yet to do, nothing
To say — we had said everything
Before we met, some other place.
Each meeting confirmation, each
Greeting grace. Beatitude so easy
Could not but alarm. Drawn to a
Reflection irresistibly, we
Stopped, fearing to drown.

Saturday Scribbling Challenge #6: Poetry Edition

This is a fun little writing challenge that Blodeuedd and I have come up with! We each challenge each other with the selected theme.

We had such fun last month with the poetry, we decided to do another poetry edition. :D

First....Blodeuedd's poem:

The Fallen
WWI inspired fantasy poem; continuation from last month's poem
by Blodeuedd
Ravens in the distance
A dark cloud of despair
Blood, rivers of red running by
Crying, screaming, dying
The Day of the Fallen
Last breath of the brave
She walks like a ghost
Searching, aching, wanting
She cries as she stumbles
Limbs, broken bodies, rotting
A shield, blue and golden
A sword glimmering in the sun
Help me
A whisper in the wind
Moving forward
Blood in the mud
There he lies
There her heart breaks
She falls down
His face so sweet
Heart breaking
Soul dying
One last embrace
No more, she says
No More
Last cry of the Fallen
Last day of the Brave
Move on, she hears
Move on, they say
New battles
More death
No More, she cries
No More
There she sits
As the sun sets
As Night comes
 A new Day enters
More, they say

More.

Now, my poem:

How I Missed This Feeling
Inspired by 'Criminal Minds'
by Carole Rae

A welcoming serene smile
A light touch.
He gently places a kiss
On my lips.
My nerves racing.
Heart pounding.
How I have missed
This feeling.
The room is spinning,
We are alone.
Should I dare
Ask for more?
He leads me to the bed
And kisses me gently.
I feel my cheeks burning
And heart beating.
He sits next to me and
Tangles his hand in my hair.
As he kisses me again
A swell of pain
Raises in my stomach.
I look down
And blood is pouring.
I look up and gasp.
His once gentle smile
Is now evil
And menacing.
He cackles as my sight blurs.
He whispers,
“How I missed this feeling.”
And then my world goes black.

Saturday Scribbling Challenge #5: Poetry Edition

This is a fun little writing challenge that Blodeuedd and I have come up with! We each challenge each other with the selected theme.

This month we decided to do something a little different. We decided to do a poetry challenge! We then had to go find a photo that we personally feel matches what our story is about.

First....Blodeuedd's poem:

Ode to War
WWI inspired fantasy poem
by Blodeuedd

With a brave heart
and proud mind
I rode.
You are a hero, they told me.
You will save us all, they sang.
My parents smiled,
My friends they laughed.
But now I lie here,
broken and beaten.
Where are you who cheered me on
who hugged me close?
Where are you who promised me honor?
Where are you who promised me everything?

Now, my poem (sorry it went long, hahaha):

Make This Stop
Inspired by 'I'm Not the Only One' by Sam Smith
by Carole Rae

My heart is pulled
And stuck in between multiple roads,
Multiple ways,
Multiple times,
Multiple dreams,
Multiple desires,
Thump, thump
Blood rising
Palms sweaty
My heart is caught
In between places
Where to choose?
What to do?
No one to choose.
Left in between
Breathing
Failing
Breathing
Stilled
Wanting all,
Losing more.
How to feel?
What to think?
I want it all,
But could lose all.
I want to be happy.
I want to be glad,
But all I feel is sad
And mad.
Mad at the decisions
That lock me in place.
That tell me what to feel
What to think.
Make it end.
Make it stop.
Make this heart choose one way
Or no way at all.
It is all too much.
Too many feelings.
I rather be stone,
I rather be alone.
Make this stop.
Thump, thump
Make this stop.
