Movie Review: The Sheep Detectives (2026)

Title: The Sheep Detectives
Length: 1h 49m
Released: 2026
Genre: Comedy, Family, Mystery
Rating: PG
Where I Got It: Drive-In Theater

SUMMARY:
Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it.

REVIEW:
I've been wanting to watch this movie since I saw the very first trailer. How freakin' adorable and funny! AND THERE ARE SHEEEP!!!!

Every night, George, the shepherd, reads aloud a murder mystery to his flock. He likes to pretend that the sheep can understand him, but he knows they are just sheep. Little does he know that they have been listening and understand him. When he is found dead one day, the sheep realize they are the only ones who can solve the crime, so they vow to help the local cop.

This had everything. Cuteness, humor, sadness, mystery, and thought-provoking moments. I really adored it.

The mystery was nicely done. I totally called it ;) I wasn't sure HOW it was possible, so I didn't get the how. I'll take it as a win.

OMG THE WINTERLAMB! GIMME!!!!!! I want to snuggle the heck out of that baby.

The cast was great.

The ending had me in happy tears.

I can't wait to watch this again.

5 stars.

Movie Review: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)

Title: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Length: 1h 38m
Released: 2025
Genre: Comedy, Action/Adventure, Family, Fantasy
Rating: PG
Where I Got It: Theater

SUMMARY:
Mario ventures into space, exploring cosmic worlds and tackling galactic challenges far from the familiar Mushroom Kingdom.

REVIEW:
Weeeee! Mario is back with another movie!

Mario and the crew are back. This time, they will have to venture into space and tackle some big galactic challenges.

Last minute, I made Hubby go with me to the movie. I needed something funny and light. This was precisely what I needed, and I'm so glad we saw this on the big screen.

Lots of laughs. Lots of action. Lots of references. Lots of awwwwwes. Adorable and def need to see.

I will say that this was super action-packed. Maybe a bit TOO action-y. They were shoving a LOT of stuff into one film, and it never seemed to stop. I would've loved to see some more relaxing and chatting between the characters to establish more of the friendship elements, especially with "newer" characters being introduced.

Other than that, I still enjoyed the film. I would for sure watch this again.

4 stars from me.

Movie Review: We Have a Ghost (2023)

Title: We Have a Ghost
Length: 2h 6m
Released: 2023
Genre: Fantasy, Comedy, Family, Horror
Rating: PG-13
Where I Got It: Netflix

SUMMARY:
Finding a ghost named Ernest haunting their new home turns Kevin's family into overnight social media sensations. But when Kevin and Ernest investigate the mystery of Ernest's past, they become a target of the CIA.

REVIEW:
Been meaning to watch this for spooky season since it came out in 2023. Finally sat down and watched it with Hubby.

Kevin and his family have moved into a new house that needs some work. Lots of surprises await in this slightly run-down house...including a ghost named Ernest. Kevin, his family, and Ernest become overnight social media sensations when a video of Ernest is uploaded to the web. At the same time as juggling success, Ernest doesn't remember who he is and why he is haunting this house, so Kevin decides to help him out. With their growing popularity, the CIA reinstates the ghost department to hunt this ghost down and take him in....for science.

This was an interesting take on ghosts. It was fun. I don't want to spoil anything about the ghost and his powers/etc. But it was an interesting take.

This story had humor but it also had some deeper feels going on. I liked it. There was a splash of love between Kevin and the girl next door and that was cute. A little awkward though.

Speaking of awkward. There were some cringy and awkward scenes like Kevin singing to the ghost. Mm. Or the scene in the motel. Mmm. It didn't ruin the film, but it made me cringe a smidge.

Awwwww the scene at the end. I actually teared up a teeny, tiny bit. It was beautiful.

Overall, this was a fun film. Funny and some serious tones thrown in. There were some cringey scenes, but a beautiful ending. I'll give this 4 stars.

Movie/Play Review: Frozen (2025)

Title: Frozen - Broadway Musical
Length: 1h 51m
Released: 2025
Genre: Musical, Play, Family, Adventure, Romance
Rating: TV-PG
Where I Got It: Disney+

SUMMARY:
Queen Elsa's hidden powers plunge Arendelle into an eternal winter and her sister Anna sets out to find her and save the kingdom. As the storm rages on, both sisters must learn that only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart.

REVIEW:
Awww I hope we get more Broadway musicals on these streaming apps. I love plays! I love broadway! Eeeeee.

This is a stage adaptation of the popular movie 'Frozen'. When Elsa is made queen her powers plunge Arendelle into an eternal winter. It is up to her sister, Anna, to save her and the kingdom.

This was fun. I really enjoyed it! The cast was lovely. We got some additional songs which were entertaining! The costumes? BEAUTIFUL.

OMG the scene with Elsa changing her dress? That was awesome! I literally gasped!!!!!

I did have to chuckle at how they did Olaf. The actor was perfect and funny, but when they would lean down and talk to Olaf....it looked like they were talking to his crotch. I couldn't help but chuckle. I feel like they should've made Olaf a little taller or something. (See pic below) But it didn't make or break the play. I still enjoyed his performance.

But this was lovely and I really enjoyed it. I'm so happy they put this on the screen for us all to enjoy. I hope we get more of these. Yes, it is always better to see these live but it's still fun to watch on the screen.

I'll give this 5 stars.

TV Short/Movie Review: A Garfield Christmas Special (1987)

Title:
A Garfield Christmas Special
Length: 23 mins
Released: 1987
Genre: Comedy, Family, Animation
Rating: G
Where I Got It: Peacock

SUMMARY:
Garfield, Jon, and Odie go to Jon's grandmother's house for Christmas, where Garfield finds a present for Grandma.

REVIEW:
I love Garfield and I haven't watched this since I was a wee lil girl. I seen it on Peacock and had to watch it. :D

Garfield and the gang go to Jon's grandma's house for the holidays. Garfield has to find a present for Grandma and...stay out of trouble.

So cute. I loved Garfield as a kid and I still love that lil chonky boi. This was the perfect film to watch on the couch with a blankie and snacks. It's short and quick but it was funny.

Even with the humor there were some serious tones here especially a certain scene with Grandma. It brought a little tear to my eye.

Perfect for the holidays. I shouldn't let so many years go by before watching this again!!!

5 stars...of course. It's Garfield darnit.

Title:
Despicable Me 4
Length: 1h 34m
Released: 2024
Genre:  Comedy, Family, SciFi, Action/Adventure
Rating: PG
Where I Got It: Peacock

SUMMARY:
Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith, and Agnes welcome a new member to the family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal and his girlfriend Valentina, and the family is forced to go on the run.

REVIEW:
Yayy I love these movies. I would say guilty pleasure, but I have no shame in liking kid or family movies. *sticks tongue out*

The story continues with our beloved ex-baddie Gru and his makeshift family. The introduce a new lil baby Gru Jr who seems to hate Gru. The family is forced to go on the run after Maxime and Valentina want to kidnap Gru Jr and ruin Gru's life.

I was watching this while baking. Weeee so fun. I didn't realize this was on Peacock yet. I was waiting for this to show up. I'm bad and I hate going to the cinema lately. So expensive. Too many people. Gross.

This was so entertaining! So funny! So adorable!

I loved the scene with the honey badger. I hope he shows up more in the future. What a cutie pootie!!!!!!!!!!!

The side story of the minions was fantastic. The references were hilarious and great.

I do recommend watching the past movies first to truly appreciate it, however, this was A-OK to watch on its own. Hubby sat down halfway through this and had no issues understanding things. I explained a thing or two, but he got it. Heck, he even chuckled at some parts.

You know what? I'm give this 5 stars. This was enjoyable and if you need a good laugh....watch these movies.

Movie Review: WISH (2023)

Title:
Wish
Length: 1h 35m
Released: 2023
Genre:  Family, Fantasy, Comedy
Rating: PG
Where I Got It: Disney+

SUMMARY:
A young girl named Asha wishes on a star and gets a more direct answer than she bargained for when a trouble-making star comes down from the sky to join her.

REVIEW:
Been meaning to watch this since it came out last year, but I'm so bad with watching new films....especially Disney films. Can't explain why but I've always been that way.

Here we follow Asha who makes a wish that will shake her entire village and kingdom. A trouble-making star comes down to join her to make her wish come true.

I really, really did adore the story. Slightly predictable, but it was sweet.

I liked the songs. They weren't as catchy as some other Disney songs, but they were very nice and had great singers.

I loved Asha's family and friends. I loved the animal sidekick being able to speak. How cute. And that star???? Literally the best character of the year. He was so cute and funny and a hooligan.

There was so much to like about this film HOWEVER.......................I didn't like the animation style they picked. They tried something different but it reminded me of those lower budget TV shows they have nowadays. It felt stiff and....cheap. I'm sure there is some reason and symbolic-ness about it, but I just didn't vibe with it.

I did some googling because I just couldn't pinpoint what truly bothered my eyes about this animation style. But THIS quote I found from the Vulture.com makes sense. They blended 3-D and 2-D animation and  "The 3-D makes the 2-D look automated and fake, while the 2-D jars uncomfortably with the 3-D such that the characters' rounded, glowing digital faces sometimes float unmoored inside more traditional designs." Reading this gave me the Aha Moment. Yes, it was just too much.

All-in-all, I did enjoy lots about this film. The story was sweet even though it was predictable. A fun cast. The songs were cute even if not memorable. The animation bothered me and slightly ruined the movie for me. Don't get me wrong...I'll watch it again if someone else wants to, but I think I'm good with a one watch on my own time. I'll give this 3 stars.

Movie Review: The Little Mermaid (2023)

Title:
The Little Mermaid
Length: 2h 15m
Released: 2023
Genre:  Fantasy, Action/Adventure, Romance, Family
Rating: PG
Where I Got It: Disney+

SUMMARY:
The youngest of King Triton's daughters, Ariel is a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Longing to find out more about the world beyond the sea, Ariel visits the surface and falls for the dashing Prince Eric. Following her heart, she makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to experience life on land.

REVIEW:
Well....I bit the bullet and decided to watch this. I'm not crazy about Live Action adaptions so I'm so picky on what I'll watch. This had such mixed reviews so I wasn't sure...well...the siren's call finally got me.

Here we have Ariel who is a mermaid and she wants more. She wants a different life...she wants to be human. This desire becomes more ardent when she sees Prince Eric and how amazing he is. He is compassionate, passionate, adventurous, kind to animals, and handsome. When her family won't listen, she turns to the evil sea witch to help.

Oh Ariel you innocent gal. I will say this version of the Prince I can see why she fell for him. She actually got to see him in action and hear him speak. Any young gal would find it hard not to fall for him.

Now...there are some minor changes to the plot and to some of the songs. I didn't mind them at all. I did appreciate the mention of the siren's song and how its magical and actually saved Eric at the same time as cursing him. That addition made me happy. I also loved the addition that when Ariel was turned she was given a little bit of amnesia. She couldn't remember the fact that she HAS to kiss him before the sun sets. I honestly felt like this made her not seem desperate. She got to know him and fall for him and then WANT to kiss just to kiss him. I liked that.

I am SUPER bummed that they cut out the French cook. Booo! I loved his little feud with the crab and the song lives in my head rent free.

The cast was okay. Surprisingly....I felt the weakest was King Triton. The actor is amazing but...he didn't seem hot-headed enough for the role. He had the sad thing going well, but when he was supposed to be angry....I just didn't buy it. I loved our Ariel and our evil witch. The voice acting was fun! I liked how they made the creatures look like actual creatures. Very cute.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the whole race thing. People lost their minds. But let's be real....it's a damned mermaid in a FANTASY movie. Who cares? She had the red hair still and a beautiful voice. That's all Ariel really is. I found it interesting pretty much all the daughters were of a different race. That was different. Did they all have different moms? I'm curious about the lore there.

But again......everyone chill on the race thing. It's a mermaid movie for kids. No one cared when they casted Brandy as Cinderella with an Asian prince who had a white dad and black mom..............Not sure why THIS is the hill people want to die on. The actress did a wonderful job and that is all I care about.

All-in-all, I did enjoy this much more than I thought I would. Some changes were great...some cuts I missed, but not enough to naysay the whole film. This was fun and a nice nod to the original. Casting was 95% okay. I had some issues with King Triton (he was too kind). Def worth the watch if you like the original. I'll give this 4 stars.

SUMMARY:
Mia Thermopolis has just found out that she is the heir apparent to the throne of Genovia. With her friends Lilly and Michael Moscovitz in tow, she tries to navigate through the rest of her sixteenth year.

REVIEW:
Been feeling nostalgic lately! I saw this and the sequel on Hulu and hopped on this.

Mia was just told she is the heir apparent to the throne of Genovia while trying to survive the rest of her High school life as a 16-year-old.

This is always a lot of fun. I remember watching this over and over and over again when I was a wee thing.

Mia is fun...her granny is fun. The staff are fun. Her mama is fun. Love the cat.

I still don't really like Lilly in this one. She def has an attitude problem.

Def a teen movie so be prepared for some cringe. ;)

4 stars

The Princess Diaries 2 Royal Engagement
Series: Princess Diaries #2
Length: 1h 53 m
Released: 2004
Genre:  Comedy, Family, Romance
Rating: G
Where I Got It: Hulu

SUMMARY:
Now settled in Genovia, Princess Mia faces a new revelation: she is being primed for an arranged marriage to an English suitor.

REVIEW:
Movie 2!

Mia has graduated from college and she is ready to take the throne. However, with the old laws she has to be married in order to take the throne. She will be forced into an arranged marriage.

I liked this one a lot too, but not as much as the first movie. I feel like the solution was way, WAY too easy. And I also felt the ending left too much to the imagination. We def need a 3rd movie.

This was still fun even with the easy ending. I hope we get a 3rd movie one day, but it has been nearly 20 years........

Anyway, it was fun revisiting these two movies. Felt young again. Adorbs.

This one gets 3 stars.

SUMMARY:
A plumber named Mario travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother, Luigi, trying to save a captured princess.

REVIEW:
I am such a cheap-ass. I really don't like going to the theaters much but I do have my regrets not seeing this on the big screen. Oh well. This was still fun on our TV.

Mario and his brother are sucked into an underground labyrinth. Mario has to save a captured princess, save the Toads, and save his brother.

This was done so well. It was beautiful and was a wonderful nod to the games we all love. Lots, lots, lots of references that made me cheer and smile.

The story was good. It felt fast in some areas, but I do get this is catered to kids so they don't want to waste too much time. Also - I can't complain it's only 1.5 hours long which is a nice change. I get exhausted with the long movies sometimes.

Ooooo both sets of extra clips in the credits were fabulous and it made me excited for a second movie someday.

Overall, this was a lot of fun and def worth the watch if you like the games or you like a fun movie. I'll stamp this with 5 stars. Might as well. No issues!

Rating: PG

SUMMARY:
A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives.

REVIEW:
Been meaning to watch this for 11 years. I just...never did. I can't tell you why but as the years ticked away I just didn't find myself digging for this.

Ralph is a video game villain, but he has been alone to leave on a trash mountain while the hero is living it up. He is tired of being the bad guy. He wants to be the hero! When he sets out to fulfill this dream, his quest will bring havoc to the whole arcade.

This was so sweet and adorable. How could you not love Ralph or Vanellope?? Heck even Felix is adorable.

The whole premise was very sweet and you can't help but route for our mains. I wanted to shake all the heroes in this game!!! Just because these baddies have to ACT bad for the game...that doesn't mean they are bad.

WHICH the Support group was adorable. I loved all the bad guys coming together. So many fun shout outs and cameos. Loved it.

My only "issue" was the ending. I feel like the resolution with the main baddie was....too quick. Curious to see if a certain character returns.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and I can def see myself re-watching it. It was so sweet and fun. Loved all the references and cameos. I'll stamp it with 4 stars.

DISCUSSION:
It’s Xmas time people! Woot woot!

It is finally Xmas movie time!

Yesss! This was my first one of the year so far. Can’t wait to watch more! This was a nice movie to start the holiday off.

When it comes to xmas movies I can forgive fast and easy love, I mean it is xmas. They do not have a lot of time so if they are suddenly in love, good for them ;)

LOL yep! They have like a week before Xmas so they have to fall in love quickly. I like to think it is a Xmas miracle ;) Santa is cupid!

Omg, Santa is Cupid! Who needs V days when you have Santa. Srsly I just read a book with pretty much that premise ;)

That is hilarious!! But yessss who needs V Day???? I loved this whole premise…they were so obviously perfect for each other. And I loved how they came together. She needed a perfect Xmas song…so she found a wholesome family with a music-loving daughter and Dad.

She found love and found a family at the same time. Perfect, and omg why did she even bother with that ex. Likes are not that important.

Yesss! So perfect! And that grandma was the cherry on top. LOL. And yesss f that ex of hers. TBH she would’ve gotten more followers and etc when they broke up. People love a good scandal.

Yes that scandal is more juicy than that boring guy. I am glad she found someone better.

For real! I even think the ex was secretly relieved. He didn’t fight for her at all to stay. Let him date that new popular girl. She deserves love. Maybe they would be happier.

He can chase likes, she found real love. Even if I must admit that FP JR was a bit dull at times, just sayin’

Oh for sure. And dating that new up-and-comer girl will give him what he wants. Plus I’m sure she wants likes too. Ugh. Thank you for saying it….I felt bad thinking about it. FP JR was a bit dull, but……he was a boring school teacher. I wish he would’ve done…something? Maybe they needed more passion earlier on or something. Not his finest acting.

Phew, yes! He was rather dull. I wanted a bit more passion from him. More anything really. But I did like the end, they felt normal and relaxed. But…but bit full yeah

She had the sexy thing going so it would’ve made sense that he could have drooled more over her? IDK…something.

Ok, I think they need to make a bit more spicy xmas movie, lol. Just damn, passion people. Xmas passion.

Yesss maybe add 10 extra minutes to give it more passion and spice!! I didn’t feel the lust or love until near the end. :/

Yes! I do like that they are all cute and such, but I do want to feel smth before the end. Hear that netflix?! Gives us a smexy xmas movie too. Like at least 2 kisses in it.

They had the perfect scene for the first kiss…under all the lights and whatnot…wasted!! Wasted scene!! Kiss and then have her have inspiration. Sighssss.

I never realised how chaste xmas movies are! =_= Perfect setting for that first kiss. How did they even make that baby in the xmas prince movies? Because people obvi never do anything in these movies

Super chaste! But normally I can feel their connection and love more. I’m sure the smex is boring af, but they love each other! I didn’t feel the love as much as normal here…not until the very end.

Total boring, but they are happy so that’s good haha. I did like the movie, but slooow connection. I blame the guy

Same here. It was cute and funny and sweet and chaste and music and so cheesy! Yeaaah I’m sure she would’ve made out with him earlier if he made ANY sort of move. He was all “I’m a boring teacher dad”. LOL

Aye, boring teacher dad. Maybe she will bring some spice into his life. Poor guy is in a rut

Maybe we’ll get a sequel? See some more spice and passion? I can see they will have issues in the future. She is still a star and he is still boring. I would watch a sequel.

Hmm, yes, she gets this other big chance…no, he gets a big chance with his old band! And maybe becomes less boring.

Yessss! I am game for a second movie. He deserves to have some joy…he needs to take more risks and not be boring. She needs to slow down. The second movie can be about them finding a happy middle.

Let’s say cheers to that!

Hopefully Netflix is listening ;)

They need to hire us

Yes! We could make them a lot of money and good stuff hahaha.

So much money, and I might not give FP another chance. Sorry man. Oh he could be the boing guy that gets dumped!

Hahaha. Yes! Maybe marry the neighbor or something. ;)
Or a bandmate!

We are on fire. Lol. I would honestly love to make a xmas movie

That would be fun!!!!

The end for now?

Yep! The end for now. I gotta clean my kitchen from Turkey Day. Maybe watch another xmas movie while doing that ;)

SUMMARY:

REVIEW:
Finally got myself to sit down and watch this. I adore the first one and I get weird when it comes to some sequels. I had thought the first movie was good enough, BUT here we are.

Anna, Elsa, and the gang have to leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient and enchanted land in order to save their homes. They will find the origin of Elsa's powers and learn much more than they expected.

Okay...I apologize for not watching this sooner because I did enjoy it. The story was really good and I was on the edge of my seat. I had no idea how they were going to fix everything. Plus I had to know the mystery of the voice and Elsa's powers.

While the story was really, really good...the songs were just okay. Not as catch-y or as memorable as the songs from the first film. Not saying I didn't like these ones...just not as good.

A part of me really does want a third movie. I feel like there are some more stories to tell with the ending they left us with. They for gave themselves an opening if they wanted to tell us more.

I really want to see the wedding darnit!

Overall, I enjoyed this. A great storyline and some good songs. The first one will always be the best I feel, but this was a close second. I'll give this 4 stars.
