This is my own personal prison. This is my personal Hell that my cousin, the evil Queen, put me in. I was thrown into this other world away from everyone I love, because of hatred and revenge from Queen Regina. I found my own true love and ran away from her and the life of royalty. As a joke she tossed me in a world that looked like the world that I met him. She probably is laughing at the irony of finding a world to forever punish me in. She found a poor village girl who had the misfortune of looking like me and faked my death. Queen Regina literally took her heart and killed her. She wanted to make sure that my husband thought I was dead so he wouldn't use his magic hat to come to my aid. I wish Queen Regina had had the guts to actually kill me herself, because now I'm doomed forever. To make things even worse, she took the dress I had been wearing when I met my lover and dyed it black. This whole story is a sick, sick joke.
I sigh as I look down at my reflection. The water shows an older version of myself. I'm almost 30 and I feel much older than that. It's been 10 years since I was taken away from my husband and my baby girl. The thought dawns on me and I moan, “My baby is 10 years old now.” It's unbelievable! What does my little Grace look like? Does she look like me or like my husband? Has my husband told her about Wonderland? Has he told her how we met? The wind blows softly as leaves from the dying tree comes down and memories of the short time I had with my husband flicked across my mind.
It was my 18th birthday when my husband and I first met. I went to the stable to escape the party and pay my beloved white rabbit, Jefferson, a visit. As I entered the stable, he had escaped his pen! This hadn't been the first time Jefferson had escaped, of course, so I took off into the woods. There was a little hole in a tree he liked to visit. My husband explained to me later on that he had been the one who helped my rabbit to escape so he could meet me. That is a later story though.
Once I got to the hole by the tree I crawled in after Jefferson. Instead of just finding him cuddled in the corner like usual, I found myself falling and falling until I finally crashed into the bottom. From there I found a curious hall with many doors. To cut a few corners, I found my way to Wonderland. Like normal, I get lost in the forest in search of Jefferson. As I tried working my way through this curious forest, a strange and mad man comes out of nowhere.
He smiles a wide smile, “You lost?”
Being full of pride, “I never get lost good sir. Now leave me alone.”
“I could help you find your way.”
“I don't need your help.”
“Would you like some tea? It is tea time you know.”
“What? Tea? No thank you.” I simply just walked away. He followed much to my dismay at the time. After a few feet I ran. I had always been one of the fastest runners! My friends, in my youth, had hated playing tag or such games with me, because no one could catch me.
He then jumps in front of me and I run into his chest. He grabs my arms and smiles that maddeningly goregous smile at me, “You seem pretty lost to me. You also look a little thirsty. Have some tea and I will not take any refusals from you” I glared and blushed, “By the by. What was your name?”
“Lady Alice and who do I have the misfortune of meeting?”
“They call me the Mad Hatter around these parts,” He loops our arms together and leads us away, “I hope you like tea Lady Alice because its always tea time around here.”
That tea party changed my life. I fell in love with him then and there, even though I fought it the entire time of my adventure throughout Wonderland. However, once I escaped the Queen of Hearts ploy to kill me and saved the Mad Hatter from the Queen of Hearts clutches, he helped me get back to my world. To my joy he decided to stay. Days later I gave up my old life and ran away with him. Not too much later I gave birth to our daughter, Grace. Happiness had been mine for only a short while, but that short time will last me a lifetime in my new prison.
To no one in particular -
I remember the dieing leaf float away. That had been a bad sign. I remember looking up and see the tree starting to die, which is not normal for that world. Trees don't die in that world. I remember the fog set in first, which was another bad sign. Beyond the fog a black mass rose over the trees and came stumbling towards me. I remember being in shock and couldn't move from my spot. Once the black mass reached me, I blacked out.
I would awake here...in a new prison. In this Hell that my cousin had put me in. Like Belle in the room next me, I'm considered crazy in this world void of magic. They think I'm crazy because I think I'm Alice from the story tale of 'Alice in Wonderland'. Perhaps they are right...perhaps I am mad! Perhaps all of these memories I have are caused by something wrong in my head.
No. No. It is not. I know I am Alice. Curious Alice who married the Mad Hatter and had a daughter named Grace. In this world the Grace is Paige and the Mad Hatter is named Jefferson. Regina in this world is known as Mayor Regina. I try to escape this prison at least once a week, but they keep getting me. Perhaps someone will end Regina's evil reign and I'll be saved! Who knows.
