Back to School: What were some of your favorite required reading books in school?

Goodness…it has been years since I graduated High School and a couple of years since I graduated college! The one thing in school I did not mind was the reading. Sure some books reallllllyyyyyyy sucked, but others did not. 

For this, I will just stick High School books. Here are some of my favorites of my High School career:

Awww, awwww, awww! Omg you guys, Wes was SUCH A CUTIE! Seriously, I grinned SO many times while listening. He was just, awww, I want to hug him, and squeeze him tight. And Kit was perfect for him, perfect! She got him without even trying, she got him! *happy sigh*

Ok, the cover is all wrong, do not look at the cover. He is a bearded lumberjack.

Kit is the new cop in Monroe. And she is all wtf! The place is bombed out after book 3. It looks like the zombie apocalypse happened. Her colleagues are tight lipped and whisper secrets behind her back- And I get that they want to protect the women, but come on! Not cool guys, not cool! Hugh and Theo did not get any love from me in this book. But yes I get it, they can not tell her secrets that is not theirs to tell. 

Anyway, Kit is awesome, she longs for a new start, she is good at her job and she loves her dog.

Wes is a socially awkward firespotter who has barely left his tower in 6 years. Nobody knows him (except weird mountain folks that respect him, they all keep to their own). But he is so cute and warm. He was the best thing about the book and when he meet Kit, awww. He so wants to try, but he is NOT good with women. But she fancies him too, and omg, adorbs!

I loved how slow it went, cos hello! Socially awkward and never leaves his tower! He relaxes around her and she likes how he gets her back. It was perfect.

Of course there is drama too. Since someone set a fire and Kit has her suspicions. Better catch that person before it is too late!

Conclusion:

Another great one from Ruggle! Wes and Kit is the couple of the year!

Poetry/Book Review: Please Don't Forget Me by Matthew De Lacey Davidson

The overarching theme of "Please Don't Forget Me" is compassion - whether it is towards unread books, a failing restaurant, the poor, the disenfranchised, fear of death, the dying, a political prisoner, or an abused animal. However, in the spirit of Allen Ginsberg and New Zealand poet James K. Baxter, indignation is often expressed towards both perpetrators and the indifferent alike. Included is a new play in verse, "What Really Counts," an account of the consequences of violence towards women and minorities in the workplace. This collection is for anyone who enjoys metered, rhyming verse with a social conscience

I am so mad at myself. I mixed up the poetry books given to me...not sure how that happened...but I blame Gmail ;) 

This was just as good as the last one. In some ways it was even better. 

There were lots of good poems. I had to stop and just re-read them. Some really require reading out loud. This author really knows his way around words! 

Honestly? There was not a poem I did not like. They were all good in their own way. Some better than others. The one thing is that these all make you think and some even make you feel. 

I highly recommend reading this collection of poems. The other book was good too, but I liked this collection even more. 

In the end, I'll stamp this with 5 stars. 

Movie Review: Moana (2016)

REVIEW:
Been holding off on watching this for a while. Why? Not sure. I get worried I won't like the newest Disney film. This was on Netflix so why not give it a try?

It was cute. The story was very good. Super original and it had a charm to it that I can't really describe. 

The story follows Moana who is the daughter of the chief. Since she was a wee thing she has been drawn to the ocean and for a reason. She was chosen to help return the heart stone to the where it belongs and to make the demigod who caused it all to help. Moana finally gives in to the call and goes. 

The songs were okay. I enjoyed Moana's song. Stuck in my head now. The other songs were just okay compared to that one. 

There were lots of humor and serious moments. I did tear up a couple of times especially. A couple heart-to-heart moments that struck a cord! Ugh! Feels. 

The best part of the film was the effects. So beautiful and amazing. They really made the water magical and beautiful. It actually made me want to go sailing even though the ocean and I have beef right now. I'm more of the Dad at the moment when it comes to the ocean ;). OCEAN DANGEROUS!! But yes, the ocean was done so beautiful and magical. It looked so real!

The ending was so amazing. I didn't expect it. Such a good twist!!!

In the end, I enjoyed this film a lot. It was so charming and heart-warming with some good laughs. A good main song while the others were just okay. I'll stamp this with 4 stars.
