REVIEW:
In honor of Halloween we watched this classic horror film.

This is the beginning of Michael's reign of horror. Michael would become immortalized in film history! Michael started his killing young. Years later, he has escaped and is ready to start killing again.

This is such a good movie even though it was from the 70s. It had a small sprinkle of cheese but it didn't cloud the film or story (which...as you know...70s movies had that tendency to do). What I also love about this film is that it is not a gore fest. Sure, I love gorey films too, but this is scary without all the blood. Michael is just a scary dude and he stalks his prey like an animal. SO CREEPY.

Michael is one of the scariest killers. He never runs. He doesn't have to. He'll catch up and you won't except when or where. Scary!

Now...our victims. I feel for them, but they were SO dumb. SOOOOOOOO dumb indeed. Laurie was the only decently smart one...kinda. She had her moments like believing she killed Michael. Pssshhh. Girl please. Don't drop the knife by his body. SIGHS.

There were some things that confused me and made me laugh.

That ending was classic and it really left the story open to make sequels or even showcase there could be more killers out there. Who knows? Evil is everywhere and you won't expect it. Nioce. Love it.

In the end, this is a classic film. Not too gory so it is good if you don't like gore fest movies. It will scare you. There are a couple of moments you will chuckle from the cheese-y moments, but this is a great horror film for sure. 4 stars from me.

TMST: What is your favorite thing about Halloween?

TMSToption2Blue

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

What is your favorite thing about Halloween?

Halloween time is my favorite season for sure. I love Halloween for the spooky decorations and candy. Halloween allows us to dress up and pretend to be someone or something else. It is so fun to see the kids all dressed up and even the adults. I always get a kick out of seeing adults dressed up getting gas or at the bar or at the store. Makes me smile!

I love not only the holiday itself, but I love the fall season as well. The colors, the cool weather. Perfect! No snow, but no heat that makes me all sweaty. I love hoodies and sweats. I love sweaters and boots. If I were to get married I would want a fall wedding I think. We shall see.

Here is my desk at work! :)

REVIEW:
Ohhhh horror films! They are the best especially around this time of the year.

We decided to watch an oldie but a goodie. I have never seen this one before so I was excited! Zombies are gross and scary. These ones especially since they are pretty hard to destroy.

The story follows two employees at a medical supply warehouse who accidentally release a deadly gas into the air. Unbeknownst them that this gas can cause the dead to rise as zombies! WHO ON EARTH DECIDED MAKING THIS WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA????? Ugh. But yes, the dead are rising and the town is in shambles. What makes it worse is that the only real way to kill these zombies is by burning them. The normal way of removing the head does nothing. What to do? What to do? Mmmm

Ooooh the 80’s for sure had hilarious scary films. They are scary and gross, but you can’t help but chuckle especially with the cliché characters they introduce. Freddy, the young employee, and his friends are a bunch of weirdos. Freddy and the girlfriend are the most normal ones of the group. The rest of them are super freaks. But they certainly did add an element to the story for sure.

I loved, loved, LOVED the twist. It made me sad, but it was really good. It makes sense…after thinking about it….but I didn’t expect it. Certainly entertaining and it add a layer to this gory mess.

Zombies are gross and these are probably the grossest from all the films I have ever seen with Zombies. Kuddos! What makes them so bad and gross is that you can’t kill them. Not really. Plus, they are smarter than your average zombie. They also don’t move slow which would put me at a disadvantage for sure. UGH! WHAT WAS IN THAT GAS!?!?!?!?! If you want to be scared of zombies be scared of these nasty things.

The ending was awesome. I mean…what else can you do? BUT is it really a solution? Darn those idiots.

Yessss, this was pretty scary, but like I said earlier I chuckled a lot. SOOOOOOO CHEESY! I felt like I was drowning in a cheese bath. Typical 80s film. The effects and costumes were decent but there were times I just had to shake my head at it. So yes, you will have to take this oldie with a grain of salt.

There was one scene that really, really bugged me. I didn’t want to see it and it made me super sad. Ugh. I now it was fake, but that poor pup. SOB!

Overall, I enjoyed the film. I wanted a good zombie film and I got one. Not your typical slow, dumb zombies that seem to be the norm lately. These are fast, strong, and smart. They want brains and they will get them dangit. 80’s cheesy but still good and one of the best zombie films for sure. There was that one scene that made me sad and mad, but what can you do? I’ll give this 5 stars.

Tell Me Something Tuesday: Celebrating Halloween

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

What do you like to do to celebrate Halloween?

I love, love, LOVE Halloween. One of my favorite holidays of the year! There are so many things I like to do to celebrate this lovely holiday.

1) Decorate my home. Now that we bought a house I have had to buy so many more decorations. Going from an apartment to a house is a huge jump.

2) Eat candy. Umm. Duh. LOL

3) Watch scary/creepy movies. Nothing is better than warming up to a scary movie! Slashers are my favorite of the genre.

4) Dress up! This year we had a Halloween party and for the first time, we decided to have a costume party. So fun! But yes, I love dressing up and being something I'm not. This year BF and I inadvertently dressed up as a couple. We won the couple's contest, but it was totally unplanned. LOL. I was a 18th-century lady and he was a pirate. We made up the story that he killed my hubbie and I am a widow (which explains my dress).

Image may contain: 2 people, including Jip Higashi, hat, beard and closeup

My friend who helped me set up (unofficial co-host) dressed as Holly from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. She won "Sexiest Costume" and "Best Overall".

Image may contain: Sarah Wagner and Carole Rae, people smiling, closeup

Our other friend won "Most Creative" for being a female Harry Potter (not pictured is her homemade broom)

I'm bummed I forgot to take pictures of all of the winners. The troubles of being a hostess indeed!

Here is a list of the other winners though!

*Creepiest/Scariest - "Sexy male" inmate
*Funniest - Waldo
*Most Boring - Someone who didn't dress up got this. But was wearing a "Sherlock Holmes" shirt and we dubbed her as a FanGirl. LOL

Mamyia and Ralph even dressed up! :)

Book Blog Walkers & Happy Halloween!

This challenge is organized by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog
This is my first week with this challenge. I've been wanting to do this for a while now...but...I just never did. Plus, I do a lot of walking at my job, so I was being a baby. Even though it is almost the end of 2014, I shall jump on board (because they say you can join whenever). I don't have anything recorded for Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, because I decided to join on Tuesday. I am a bad cookie. Next week will be a full week.

Tuesday: 2.5 mile walk/jog
Wednesday: 1 hour walk (about 2 miles, I forgot to turn on my step counter)
Thursday: 30 min of Zumba and 1 mile walk
Friday: 30 min of Zumba - Buns, Abs, and Thighs workout (that kicks my butt every time) and 1 mile walk
Conclusion: I feel I did a good job even though I started late for this week. I really should do that Zumba - Buns, Abs, and Thighs one a couple times a week, but it kicks my booty and its hard. Not gunna lie, but I can feel it. I can't wait for school to be over, because it is hard to fit in a whole bunch of exercise with 40 hours at work and then full time in college, but I will make sure I try and do it everyday!

Happy Halloween everyone! Since I started this challenge, I shall try and be a good kid and not eat a lot of candy at work. ;D Here's a pic of my Book Club all dressed up for Halloween (not everyone could show):
(From left to right) Jess as Poison Ivy, Aly as a witch, me as a Naughty Maid, Jasmine as a cat, Reece as a Magician's Assistant, and Tyler (the one having an awesome pose) as a cat.

Happy, Super, Late Halloween! + Some Poetry

Totally been insanely busy with homework, so I've neglected you all. WAAAAAAAH!
But
Happy Halloween! (a wee bit delayed).

In honor of Halloween, I wrote up a poem. I hope you enjoy it!

Halloween
by: Carole Rae

A windy night
A windy night
Fright fills the night air.

A joyous laugh
A joyous laugh
Rings in the night air.

Come sing with us,
Come dance with us,
We children of the night.

A masquerade
A masquerade
Hide your face for the night.

A windy night
A windy night
Enjoy the crisp and cool air.

Come sing with us,
Come dance with us
On this dark and lovely Halloween night.

Friday/Saturday Flash Fiction

Every Monday Dottie over at Tink's Place (or Carole Rae/me) posts a picture and on Friday we share a story to go along with the picture. The story has to be about 350 or so words.

Happy Saturday! It's 3 am and I finally realized that perhaps I should post this FFF that I wrote. ^.^ I was tirelessly working on my novel for Nanowrimo. I'm trudging along. Perhaps I'll share what I'm writing, but I'm not 100% sure how I feel for this. I just broke the first 1,000 words. Huzzah for me!

But yeaaaaa, this FFF isn't my best work, but my brain is a little fried from midterms and lack of sleep. Ha. I hope you enjoy though!

The Goddess of Halloween
by: Carole Rae

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Slamming her foot down, she finally killed the annoying rat that had been scampering along the floor. She lightly smiled and propped her head on her fist and closed her eyes. Her time has ended and now she will be in this prison for 364 days.

“Would you like more tea my dear?” One of the crows asked.

She shrugged, “I'm fine thank you.” Letting a huge yawn shake her whole body, she finished off her tea and set it to the side.

There was a light tap and the old door creaked open. She didn't have to open her eyes to know who it was, “What the Hell do you want, Clause?”

Clause smiled and even though he spoke quietly, his voice still boomed and made the dark room seem alive, “I just brought you some comfy clothes and some food my dear Goddess of Halloween. ”

Opening her eyes, she gazed at Clause and her heart stopped. The rumors of Clause being fat was ludicrously wrong. He was a God. Literally and figuratively. His bright bleach blonde hair made his ice colored eyes sparkle. Clause's body was the opposite of jolly, it was sensational. Pretending to not notice how attractive he was, she hissed, “Why must I be chained in here like some damn animal? Who died and made Him God?”

Clause calmly set her things down and sat across from her. She sucked in her breath when his cool eyes settled on hers, “He created us and that includes you. Besides, you know exactly why you are locked up.”

“Ooooh. But I didn't mean to nearly kill that freakin' rabbit. We had a fight and....GAH! Why am I explaining myself to Santa. Hell.” She looked away and kicked away the crows.

“I know....Rabbit had it coming, but you nearly killed him. Just think though...three more years and then you are free. Also every Halloween He lets you have a day of freedom.”

She heaved a sigh “I suppose, but I'm just sooooo lonely,” She grinned as she noticed Clause's ice eyes glazing over her shapely and sexy figure, “Perhaps we could, well, entertain each other.”

Clause lifted an eyebrow, but said nothing. The tick, tocks of the old clocked seemed to go on for an eternity while they looked at each other. She uncrossed her long legs and stood. As if she had forever, she made her way to Clause's lap. With careful and tender movements, she straddled him and wrapped her pale arms around his neck. He, likewise, slowly wrapped his arms around her waist. Before her lips could scrape his, Clause tried to push her away, but she would not be moved, “Relax and enjoy Halloween my dear Santa Clause.”

The end.

HAPPY DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it is the day after Halloween, but I shall still use this image. ^.^

How was everyone's Halloween? Mine was alright...I had work, but afterwards my co-workers threw a mini-party. It was fun. At work I dressed as the demon who cursed the Detroit Lions. I wore a Lions hoodie and blue devil horns. I looked cute and people thought it was funny. No pictures though because I'm feeling kruddy and I simply forgot.

This week I'm sharing an excerpt of The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning. It's an excerpt from the author, so random is the theme for this week.

"Each day was a battle to accomplish three things: use only what magic was absolutely necessary; despite the ever-growing temptation, toop hard and fast and frequently, and continue collecting and searching the tomes wherein might he the answer to his all-consuming question.
Was there a way to get rid of the dark ones?
If not... well, if not...
He raked a hand through his hair and blew out a deep breath. Eyes narrowed, he watched the lights flickering beyond the park, while behind him, on the couch, the lass slept the dreamless sleep of the utterly exhausted. On the morrow, dark circles would mar the delicate hollows beneath her eyes, etching her features with beguiling fragility. His bed play took a toll on a woman.
Two nights past, Katie had wet her lips and oh-so-casually remarked that he seemed to be waiting for something.
He'd smiled and rolled her onto her stomach. Kissed her sweet, warm, and willing body from head to toe. Dragged his tongue over every inch, then taken her, ridden her, and when he'd finished with her she'd been crying with pleasure.
She'd either forgotten her question or had thought better of it. Katie O'Malley was not a fool. She knew there was more to him than she really wanted to know. She wanted him for sex, nothing more. Which was well and fine, because he was incapable of more.
I wait for my brother; lass, he hadn't said. I wait for the day Drustan wearies of my refusal to return to Scotland. For the day his wife is not so pregnant that he fears to leave her side. For the day he finally acknowledges what he already knows in his heart, though he so desperately clings to my lies: that I am dark as the night sky with but a few starlike flickers of light left within me.
0ch, aye, he was waiting for the day his twin brother would cross the ocean and come for him.
See him for the animal he was
If he permitted that day to arrive, he knew one of them would die."

Music Monday & Halloween....Boo!

First of all.........HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! I love Halloween because of all the candy and the costumes. I even got to wear a costume at work. As you may or may not know, I went as a Ball of Yarn with devil horns that glow. I don't have any pictures because I was self-conscious all day. Mostly if I had to service an attractive guy or one of our regulars. *shudders* But everyone loved my original costume. I always come up with interesting costumes. Like in my junior year in High School I dressed up as a Princess with an extra chromosome (I wore a white beard). What were some whacky costumes have you worn?

Anyways....not only is it Halloween today, but it's also Music Monday. Woot woot! Shall we begin?

First of all I want to share my favorite Halloween song as a kid, but now I wince when I hear it. Ugh. It's 'Dance like an Egyptian'. Enjoy......if you can:

Okay, that's enough for me. Here's a little video featuring Anne and Henry from 'The Tudors' with the song 'Good Girls Go Bad' (great song). It was created byDayJolie80. ^.^

I shared this with Lizzy from Historically Obsessed, because it's one of my favorite Marie Antoinette videos of the moment. It's been a while since I've seen a great video for Marie Antoinette. It's created by very awesome tiukudaa. The video stars the song 'Good Life' by OneRepublic:

Ready for a funny video? Of course you are. What a silly question. haha. This one is from Nighiga. He is a true man of my own heart....thing....he understands my and other's lack of being able to do that dancing thing. I just look like an idiot. Enjoy:

Well, I hope you guys have an EXCELLENT rest of your Halloween night. Peace.

Sunday Ketchup

~'Sunday Ketchup' was inspired by The Muse in the Fog's 'Suddenly Sunday' postings. However, mine are going to be a little bit different. Also when I went to spell 'Catchup' I accidentally spelled it wrong and put 'Ketchup'. I thought it was cute, so I kept it. Also, I'm addicted to ketchup! I want one of those ketchup shirts that says "I <3 Ketchup". Wouldn't that be cute? Every week, or whenever I remember, I'm going to post events that happened this past week, things coming up next week, updates, and news. You can join in and post your own 'Sunday Ketchup' postings, just make sure to mention me...if you want ^.^ ~

Happy Sunday everyone! ^.^ Halloween is right around the corner and I'm kind of excited. I get to wear a costume to work. Huzzah! The theme that the people I'll be working with decided on was 'Cat and it's toys'. The manager of the day, Anee's mama, is going as the cat. Tay is going as a mouse toy. Moi? I'm going as a ball of yarn with blue devil horns (I got them at the Haunted Warehouse I went to with Sarah last weekend). HAHAHAHA. It'll be cute ^.^ I can't WAIT! What are going as on Halloween?

Past Week Posts:

What Came in the Mail/Store:
Errrrrr.......nothing book related. I haven't had time or money to book or movie shop. =( Sad I know.

What's Going to Be Posted this Week?:
I'll try and get the usual posts posted. I'm getting use to my new schedule and midterm week is over, so freetime as been allotted. Huzzah! Hopefully I'll have a book review AND maybe a movie review. Don't hold your breath on the movie review, because I'm checking it out at the library but it has to be shipped from another library. *fingers crossed*

Anything New For the Blog?:
The other day I sat down and played with my blog for like 2 hours after work. How sad. But hey, I needed to reconnect with my blog baby. I updated the 'Quotes' and gave slight changes to different parts of my blog. Can you tell? I'm also playing with some different ideas.

Tim Horton News:
I get to work Halloween. Woot woot!

Anything Else Worth Mentioning?:
Ummmmmmmmm..........nope. I maybe adding little things to the Blog, but besides for that....nope. ^.^
