Summary:
Spindle Cove, nestled in a peaceful corner of Regency Era England, has long been known as “Spinster Cove,” due to its preponderance of unwed ladies of “delicate constitutions”—and that’s the fictional setting for a delightful historical romance series by USA Today bestselling author Tessa Dare. In A Lady by Midnight, a young woman searching for her family finds love unexpectedly with a handsome colonel—but the secrets of her heritage threaten to disrupt their romance…and their upcoming nuptials.

Review:
Been meaning to read this one, but other books got in the way. *shakes fist*

Back at Spindle Cove. This time is it is Kate's and Colonel Thorne's turn for love. The secrets of her heritage threaten to disrupt everything...including the early sprouts of their romance. Thorne is also not making it easy. He has a dark past and he doesn't know what the meaning of love it.

I enjoyed this one a lot even though I wanted to shake everyone. Especially Thorne. UGH. I get it. He had a rough, rough, ROUGH past. But dude....you aren't that guy anymore. You have amazing friends and Kate LOVES you! *bangs head on table*

The solution was easy to Kate's "problem" at the end there. Her solution was silly and not necessary. Whatever. It works, but it was silly.

I'm so happy these two found love. They really needed it and deserved it.

Can't wait to read more. I'm trying to take these slowly so I don't burn out.

But yes, this wasn't my favorite of the series or of Dare's other books, but I still enjoyed it. I wanted a different solution but it is what it is. It worked.

More please!

3 stars.

So I have been reading a few Dare books, and when I had 2 hours left of this one my subscription was finished. And I could do nothing until October!! I know I know. Obvi I said F it and went to the competition. But that was a week only offer so it is soon finished with Dare for a while.

But before that, Kate teaches piano in Spindle Cove. Corporal Thorne has been giving her the cold shoulder for a year. She wonder about her past, he wants nothing to do with his past.

And then they are thrown together. And they fancy each other, and things happen.

And the past comes knocking!

Omg Thorne, just tell her! Men!

Fun times. I was curious about one person but that person has no book so far...hmmm

Great narration as always

After years of fending for herself, Kate Taylor found friendship and acceptance in Spindle Cove—but she never stopped yearning for love. The very last place she'd look for it is in the arms of Corporal Thorne. The militia commander is as stone cold as he is brutally handsome. But when mysterious strangers come searching for Kate, Thorne steps forward as her fiancĂ©. He claims to have only Kate's safety in mind. So why is there smoldering passion in his kiss?

Long ago, Samuel Thorne devoted his life to guarding Kate's happiness. He wants what's best for her, and he knows it's not marriage to a man like him. To outlast their temporary engagement, he must keep his hands off her tempting body and lock her warm smiles out of his withered heart. It's the toughest battle of this hardened warrior's life . . . and the first he seems destined to lose.
