Summary:
I am Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman.
My only "superpowers" are that I turn into a thirty-five pound coyote and fix Volkswagens. But I have friends in odd places and a pack of werewolves at my back. It looks like I'm going to need them.

Centuries ago, the fae dwelt in Underhill--until she locked her doors against them. They left behind their great castles and troves of magical artifacts. They abandoned their prisoners and their pets. Without the fae to mind them, those creatures who remained behind roamed freely through Underhill wreaking havoc. Only the deadliest survived.

Now one of those prisoners has escaped. It can look like anyone, any creature it chooses. But if it bites you, it controls you. It lives for chaos and destruction. It can make you do anything--even kill the person you love the most. Now it is here, in the Tri-Cities. In my territory.

It won't, can't, remain.

Not if I have anything to say about it.

Review:
Back at it!

Mercy, Adam, and their pack cannot catch a break. It has been a little bit since the end of the last one with all the zombies. There is something wrong with Adam and their mate bond. Adam's ex is kicking up more unnecessary drama. A monster has escaped and is causing havoc. And there are wolves invading their territory.

Honestly, I was so angry at the beginning. I'm so tired of Adam's ex. She is a snake and a B-word. The first couple of chapters drove me through the roof. How are people still defending that lady?!!!!?!?!?!?!?! Mercy has literally done so much for the pack, so I don't get the lingering loyalty for that narcissist. F her. It all doesn't make sense to me.

And screw you Adam taking your ex's side even if it was just for a minute. Also, screw you for keeping secrets and not working with Mercy to fix what is going on. *grumbles about male pride*

I was so angry with everyone at least the first 25% of the book. Poor Mercy. She is a darling and deserves the best.

Things DO get "better" as things progress and they all have bigger fish to fry. Petty drama can wait. I feel like there are some issues we'll be seeing pop back up in the next book. Adam's ex, I'm sure, will be causing more stupid shit.

Even though I was angry at the beginning this was really enjoyable. The baddie was good and I love the reveal/twist/secret we get to see about the creature. Niceeeeeeee.

The narration is perfect as always.

All-in-all, this book was fun. It's a nice addition to the series. The beginning had me up in arms, but the rest was really good. I hope we never, ever see that ex again. I'm so tired of her. Mercy is a badass but a smart badass and I'm going to miss her when the series wraps up. Who knows when though. I feel like the series has a few more books left ;). I'll give this 4 stars.
