This is book 2 and you definitely need to have read book 1. That one ended with quite some drama.

Erin is travelling with a prince and his people as she knows the way. There are people hunting them. He wants to take over the throne. And she fell in love with a man who died long ago but possessed the prince. Told you it was a lot. Then that man had to leave and the prince was left with wtf? and he remembered and now Erin has to do what he says. And will she ever meet that man again? Remember he is dead...

Their journey will take them to the land that she fled long ago, where people might remember her. Also there are these spores that can kill you . She is also doing her best to protect her nephew who really looks like his mum. And his dad is after him.

They are running from a lot, their are fighting many. There is death and danger.

But you know the best part was the end, because after all this danger the end was like a warm blanket.

Great narration. Exciting story. And I would like more.

When the royal party finds themselves in a land they never believed they could access, it will take all of Prince Gevulin's (admittedly impressive) diplomatic skills to forge a coalition with an unlikely group of would-be allies.

Meanwhile, as Erin mourns her lost love, an unwelcome visit to the land of her birth brings back the traumatic memories of the childhood she shared with her sister.

And a surprise visit from an unwelcome family member threatens to derail the plans of multiple opposing factions.

An interesting fantasy set in an interesting land. Where spores can kill you, where the borders are a bit? Like what is beyond, we do not know, it might kill us.

Elen is a courier, she knows the land, well her corner of it. She walks the same roads, she checks for infestations. She does have a past, and it takes some time to unravel that.

Because before that a prince arrives with his entourage, and needs passage. And she has to help them. But what is the prince´s goal? Also she is so lowborn so it is not like she or anyone really could ask .

Off they all go on a dangerous adventure and something happens to the prince....

Great adventure, danger, hidden pasts and that end, how could you do that to me?! Now I need the next book.

Great narration too. She gave a real feel of places and people

Narration

Great narration. For a book that is a lot about travelling she keeps it interesting, and always entertaining. She was good with different voices 

Book:

This audiobook was a long one for me, I am more used to shorter ones when it comes to audio. I would say it was like anthropological sci.fi. Where to even start...

Aliens took over earth. A man named Charles tried to rebel but instead they made him a prince. His sister Tess is on her way to him, but instead spies on the aliens and is stranded. On a planet where the native population does not know about space travel, or anything. So she pretends to be from overseas and learns to know the Jaran people.

It is slow, a lot could have been left out in a way. But still it is compelling. I wanted to know if she ever reaches her brother (spoiler she does not. Travelling by horse is slow, the world is big. There are more books.) I did not want to stop listening, I wanted to know. But yes they spend a LOT of time travelling.

And yes there is that guy that she will end up fancying, but she has some fun before she even gets to know him like that. And that is way at the end. Not a romance, but she does get to explore. That was a good thing about this culture, women got to do what they wanted, but only until they got married.

Will I read more? Well I would want to, but they are so long. I will see. It took me quite some time, and yes it was only 20 hours, some fantasy books are 40+. That would take me a month.
